Indian films from £3.99!

Walked around my local asda and saw them selling a variety of Bollywood films - now i know alot of places do sell them but not this cheap

go to your average Indian film shop and they're around the £10/£15 mark and to find alot of new and classic ones for around the £5 mark is an absolute bargain.

Just wanting to bring to the attention the people that werent aware of these being sold at ASDA

and they come with free delievery so thats the price you pay!

#5
Seems very cold with no better offers? If its not your thing fair enough, no need to vote cold though unless you know its not a good deal.

I know nothing about this myself, but please don't freeze it out of existence without justification...
#6
i was thinkin that too that cuz ppl have no idea how much a indian film costs generally or what bollywood is htey're colding it.

that 3.99 film is on for around £15 in alot of shops in asian areas

Why would anyone want to watch a Indian film anyway in the UK?

All thanks to Shilpa/ Jade saga ;-)
#8
I've seen bollywood films in Poundland.

Im your average white scottish lass, and i like bollywood films, i love the cheesy dancing and storylines.........so to me this is a bargain.

I think the guy writing 'why would anyone watch in the uk' was just trying to get a rise out of folk

hot deal - heat added

I haven't seen many Bollywood films but I can highly recommend "Lagaan" http://imdb.com/title/tt0169102/.
It's an amazing film (especially if you're a cricket fan) and this is coming from a Welshman. There are so many amazing foreign language films out there if people just open their eyes and be a little bit broadminded.

Haha, amazing, made my day!

Just looked at the Bollywood take on Superman as well, absolute classic.

All the bad films aside, this is still a good deal if anyone wants to pick up some Bollywood films, so heat added.

Used to watch an Indian film on ITV every Sunday night (at some ridiculous hour) when I was at uni. Have fond memories of one in particular called Bulandi :)

some of the big Tesco stores sell Mango lassi as well....

Good deal on the movies... will check them out.... Just wondering if they were in the actual asda part of the store in their own entertainment store? [i.e. they have their own mini shops near the checkouts like photography department]...

cheers

the tesco one (sun brand?) isn't very nice though
#27
Hot deal. Resorted to having to buy Lagaan and Dil Se recently from American sellers on Ebay. Still the cheapest at the time however given the exchange rate.
#28
Morrisons sell the Mumtaz mango lassi and it is well nice, have a couple of these whilst watching the films!

Good deal voted hot, have they got any box sets?

I want my posts deleted :(
I'm feeling left out

Bloody good deals though. I'm not a big fan but there is some crackers there for under a fiver
#31
Good deal. Voted hot.

The film in the main post (Dil Chatha Hai) is very good, and at £3.99 a bargain. It seems to mainly be the older titles that are dirt cheap, but there's loads of titles that are worth picking up.
#32
Bit confused as the Asda Entertainment website linked is not run by ASDA but 'The Hut (Limited)' in Jersey.
The prices are the same as on The Hut website (plus 'Currys Entertainment' which The Hut also run) and and I have never found any link between the prices there and instore ASDA.
Some things are cheaper in ASDA and somethings are cheaper from 'ASDA Entertainment'/The Hut.
Is the recommendation check out the instore prices or buy from the The Hut?
#33
Excellent post. Some real bargains for all age groups. Voted Hot
#34
i saw the instore dvds at accrington asda which has a large asian population

i was at the super-wal-mart in manc next to the city stadium and though that dept was alot bigger i didnt see any bolly films

but the films are available online ordering too and its free delievery

Lol my statement seems pretty daft now its reached boiling point. :-D
Glad to see it took a fair position though, I guess the late-night voters weren't bollywood fans...

The best modern films of which I hope Asda have cheaply are thos emade by Yash Raj Films, very family orintated and high good feel factor :)

One to look out for are
Mohabattein
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
DIl to pagal hai

plus Lagaan an(oscar noominated) and Dil Chatha Hai arebo th excellent. At under a fiver great price :)
#37
alot of the newer releases tend to b rip off's from hollywood films - when matrix came out every other fight scene was a copy of some scene in matrix.

What i think are good deals for the good films..

Bewafaa 7.97
coolie 5.97
Dil Chahta Hai 3.99
dosti 5.97
don 5.97 (not don - the chase begins)
Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin 4.97
dhakhan 5.47
hum saath saath hain 7.97 *just to see how corny indian films really are*
lajja 7.97
Mughal-E-Azam 7.47 - classic of indian cinema - recently remastered with colour
Malamaal Weekly 6.47
naseeb 5.97
namak halaal 4.97
pyaar toh hona hi tha - 5.97 *remake of french kiss*
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak - 7.97
The Rising - The Ballad Of Mangal Pandey 8.97
Ram Aur Shyam 7.47
Rangeela 5.97
Sholay (Burning Flames) 10.97 - bollywoods top film.
Satte Pe Satta 5.97 *remake of that howard keel movie - 7 brother for 7 sisters?*

there's good titles at £10+ but from the cheap lot those i reckon are the best

also one other thing i've notice i saw Hum Tum £8.97 at asda but its not listed online - so there's perhaps more thats not listed online.

I find that after watching 1 Indian film you are satisfied but half an hour later you want another one :)

No seriously there are some good Bollywood films out there one of the most recent better known being Bride and Predujice.

Morrisons sell the Mumtaz mango lassi and it is well nice, have a couple of these whilst watching the films!

try the mumtaz meals they sell, pretty good considering they are microwave jobbies. The restaurant in bradford is even nicer. As for bollywood films, they suck honestly, the same cheesy storylines with the same crappy songs and dance routines. girl meets boy, parents disagree, leads to rows, people dying etc and then they realise thier mistakes and everyone lives happily ever after.

Seriously the only good bollywood films are the golden oldies like andaaz, mughal e azam, naseeb, kulli etc. Atleast they have good songs with the likes of rafi and lata!
