Review

The adventure continues...

The newest Indiana Jones adventure commences in the desert in 1957 - the height of the Cold War. After barely escaping a close scrape with Soviet agents Professor Jones returns home to Marshall College only to find that the government have forced the university to fire him.

On his way out of town, Indiana meets rebellious young Mutt (Shia LaBeouf), who has a proposition for the adventurous archaeologist: If he'll help Mutt on a mission with deeply personal stakes, Indy could very well make one of the most spectacular archaeological finds in history - the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear.

'Indiana Jones & the ridiculous sequel'
#2
Just watched it on Sky - awful.
#3
Good price :) Compared to the others not as good obviously but on its own still better than some of the rubbish thats out atm.
#4
Awful awful movie.
But a good price if you really want to buy it.
#5
The hiding in the fridge scene still cracks me up!! hahaha
#6
Why does everybody hate this movie so much. Have you all forgotten how disappointing Temple of Doom was? Even Harrison Ford was keen to amke a third because he didn't want to end on such a disappointing sequel. This movie is Indy Vista - bmuch better than ME (and better than XP was when it was first released)...
#7
temple of doom was much better than this imho. Even so, at this price if you want to see it anyway it is a good deal
#8
Better than Temple of Doom.
#9
This movie dreams of being "Temple of Doom".

Woeful woeful film - but very good price for it if you're one of the few you liked it.
#10
Temple of Doom may not have a great story, but it does have Shortround and some excellent set-pieces which this film lacked.
#11
What you mean the Tarzan bit or the Killer ants? This was one of the most disappointing films I have seen since Star Wars Episode 1!
#12
What's worse than 1 disk of the biggest travesty of recent years......?

Did you seriously just compare the Indiana Jones franchise to successive Microsoft operating systems?

The last Indy film was win-doze indeed.

Out of the first three, yes, "...Temple of Doom" was the weaker example, but "...Raiders of the Lost Ark" & "...Last Crusade" were certainly far better (in terms of story & production) than "...Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". The action sequences in all of the movies is a little far-fetched at times, but for the lead actor's advancing years this time around the on-screen persona of the character was spoiled by the over-use of implausible encounters that men half Indiana's age would struggle to cope with.

Harrison Ford, as much as I enjoy his movies, was too old to play Henry Jones in this outing.

A younger actor playing Indiana, with Ford in the role of his father (as previously taken by Sean Connery) would have worked better, I think.

I can but hope that the casting for "Indiana Jones 5" listens to my opinion, though.

BFN,

fp.

Temple of Doom was brilliant, fact.

Great price for any double DVD release except this embarassment of a film!
#18
Pointless sequel....but the price is ok....the only reason I can think one would buy is only to complete their collection.
#19
Voted Cold because I utterly LOATHE this film with an unparalleled passion! :x

Hot price but a really bad film.

It's actually almost bad enough to make the films that came before it seem somehow worse.

Not sure I agree with the Windows comparison, no film so far ever produce is that bad (well perhaps Sin City which is the only film I have every turned off because it was so cr*p).

I watched this last night that's to a LoveFilms free trial.

Yes the actions scenes are somewhat implausible, but then again so are most in any other film like Bond, etc.

Yes Harrison Ford is getting on a bit, but Indiana Jones just would not be Indiana ones with anyone else.

Personally I loved it, laughed out loud on many occasions. Really enjoyable IMHO if you take it for what it is which is a bit of non-serious, fun action adventure, light relief. :-D

That's no reason to vote something cold :x The voting is not to do with whether you like it, it's whether it's a good deal and at that price I would say yes.

Oh come on! The China Problem will tell you all you need to know.

I know Jones films are fantasy but surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge is pure stupidity.

THANK YOU!

People routinely hate on this film, because of Lucas, and completely ignore the fact Temple of Doom was far worse.

So your defence of this film is that Temple of Doom is worse?

Not the strongest defence I've ever heard.
#27
Taken on it's own this is an okay film, but it doesn't compare to the previous three.

Except that follows the trend for all the Indiana Jones films.

There is a common theme of belief, restoring someone's life with the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant taking lives, and even the aliens in this film. These are all part of actual beliefs, surviving a nuclear explosion in a fridge is not a belief, at least it wasn't last time I checked...

Totally agree. Just don't take it so seriously. And yes surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge, even if it did say it was lead lined, is ridiculous, but it does not try to be anything other than tongue in cheek.

I say Quantum of Solace last night and the fight scenes in that are far more ridiculous, yet it is portrayed as a serious action thriller!
