Thanks for the deal, bought.

I would recommend downloading the installer from the site rather than using Steam, as you can then apply the patch from: http://www.wrcthegame.com/new-patch-now-available/ to update it to version 1.01. There are a list of fixes on that link. I couldn't find any way to update the Steam version.

The installer download is a zip file, but Windows wouldn't open it for me. Winrar did the job. You then mount the iso, put in the key, install the game and apply the patch.
Bought last night and about 2-3 hours into the game.

It's not the best rally game of all time but it's £1.44 so I've already for more than my money's worth from it.

Also, I'm playing in a laptop with an intel 4000 igpu at 1366x768 and it appears to be ~30fps.

Buy now.
DiRT 3 Complete Edition is currently £5.74 on steam if that helps any racing fans.
Thank you, couldn't really turn it down at that price

Then you choose to not buy the games you don't like. There is no over saturated. More choice is always good. Never bad. You just have to be smarter about what you buy. It is like saying there are too many foods and I just want bananas and potatoes because I like those ones. I am personally sick of all the open world games. People like them though. I don't think they should not be there. Most indie games use pixel art because of budget and time. The most important thing being gameplay and fun. A thing a lot of AAA forget about while creating nice graphics.
Well that's one point of view :)
Having 1000s upon 1000s of games to choose from & vying for our gold coins, isn't necessarily a positive thing at all and to use your analogy, if I walked into the supermarket and there were 100 different brands of bean, I'd be perplexed & would probably skip the bean isle.
There are too many developers on the scene and every Tom, Dick & Harry who has the glimmer of an idea can grab a basic dev kit & spam the same open source resources into an engine that can barely render a cluster of pixels without stuttering & farting, and then this "early access indie phenomenon" gets plopped onto Steam. This process is accelerating, it isn't slowing down and many of the more "worthy" projects get buried. Then the enthusiastic gamer has to sub to several dozen games channels on YouTube to have half a chance of spotting said "worthy"...
Who has the time for all of this?
So, yeah - like the bean analogy, I'd rather have fewer with tight as a gnats quality control.
But that's me - you are you - and I don't actually give much of hoot really :3 Just internet banter.

That is what the review system is for on Steam. No need to use YouTube. The community sorts out what is good or bad. You also have many more people creating games with many more creative ideas. Better for gaming of the future.

There are just more options for gamers and more designers in the industry. Good for everyone.
Probably - but I know what he means... and the current market is over-saturated. Look at Steam now - my goodness, talk about lack of quality control.
Possibly an age thing as well maybe. If you grew up through the 8 bit & 16 bit era, these retro-inspired games don't look that fresh & exciting. I have trouble brewing up a froth over most of the pixel art in games, as, been there done that decades ago, regardless of the refinement here & there.

Hot I guess at that price, but am I the only one who is getting rather fed up with retro, pixelated, 'fun' little games.
As gaming hardware evolves the actual games seem to just go backwards....

No, you aren't the only one (_;)

I think with many of these game types they almost have a cookie-cutter aesthetic & the art assets may as well have been copy & pasted between titles. The bubble will burst eventually. Its just a human 'nature' thing, we copy each other to the point of tedium and then a mutation occurs, things evolve & move on, then we copy that ad infinitum - rinse/repeat & the sun explodes and all life on planet earth vanishes. Or something.

erm, different game I think . . .

dougiedonut
Probably the best single player experience you'll ever have - ever.
One of my fondest memories of this game was going into a bar, drinking lots of beer,
and then firing a rocket launcher in there, whilst staggering around heavily drunk. With everyone in the bar running around like headless chickens.
The game is as open as you can get to work on mission objectives, and with several paths of specialisation to explore.
The stealth option is the hardest, but most rewarding also. Every self-respecting gamer out there needs to play this game. See mod nation for updated skins for PC...
He's keeps correcting people but he's talking about Deus Ex...lol

30th anniversary?! So what platform was it originally released on?
First released June 17th 2000. It definitely isn't 30 years old, just over 15 years. An awesome game in its day.
The original Zx Spectrum release was 30 years ago. 2000 was probably the PC port.
It's unrelated to the game in this deal though. A remake of the ZX Spectrum game wasn't done until 2010.

"This" game isn't a game, it's two;

" the entire original version, ... , plus a brand new DIRECTOR’S CUT with all-new graphics and Exclusive Director's Commentary."

How they are providing the "original" version though I am not sure. A speccy/commodore emulator perhaps.
Classic weird game, think all the actors are dead now.
And fishmaster if your going to try be smart telling people they are wrong at least look up the correct game..
