Remote control dimmable lights - shame they can't deliver by Valentine's Day!

Same price as when I posted them here ^^^ (although not as a deal).

I've been very impressed with them so far BUT I would only trust them on a lamp. They seem to turn on and off by increasing/decreasing the voltage very quickly (whereas with other sets you hear a click of a relay or something). You can also dim things very easily by pressing the on/off button slightly too long (or if a kid gets hold of one/you sit on it). Personally I wouldn't want to dim a set of speakers or a computer by mistake!

Other than that they are very good. Unusual to find a set where they all dim. They also have manual settings on them so even if the power goes out it remembers which socket it's meant to be controlling which can be a problem with most other sets.

These are quite good.................if you can get them in the socket in the first place. I had an extension built a few years ago and these things will just not go in. Normal plugs do so there must be an ever so slight size difference. Saying that they do go into my older socket in the rest of the house.

I would say your extension has funny sockets!

WHAT???

Find a cheaper set that allows you to remotely dim 3 sockets??? With a controller that allows control of 5 sockets (more if you double up)???

Good luck!
#7
These look like the frequency is set by dip switch, so you could press 1 button to control 1 or more sockets at the same time. Or individually control say 10 sockets with 2 controllers:thumbsup: Hot! Hot! Hot!

Hot deal for remote sockets but be aware they can not be used for anything else but lamps.
Bought these a month ago for this price but if you plug a tv it will not power up.

Switch a fan off and on. :?
RF Remote works through walls and ceilings.
300 WATT MAX per socet
You can’t use a dimmer on a fan as it’s a motor I’m sure an Electrician or Engineer can explain
Great for garden lighting as long as the sockets are kept indoors. I’ve ordered 3 sets:thumbsup:

For some reason - don't know why - last night I was looking at this person's previous postings. It appears that she(?) doesn't have a good word to say about any deal and votes almost everything "stone cold"!! Has never posted a deal herself, just slates everyone elses. (And whistles a lot)! :?

Now when these are available with infrar red I will get some. It would be cool to program these into my harmony remote but it wont do RF.

Not too likely I guess as there are not very many times where you are within line of sight of these things. Much nicer to be able to use them without being able to see them,

That was both funny, and depressing at the same time. Fascinating read though. ;-)

Actually, nice deal.. the price does look tasty, and I can see it being something i'll find very useful.

Hot from me, buddy!

I agree, it's not your extension. they were pretty tough toget into my existing sockets too. A swift flat palm sorted the problem, but I know what you mean!

otherwise, excellent bit of kit FOR THE MONEY.
#22
Have used a non-dimmer version of this product (remote is identical and profile of sockets is too) and you can have more than one socket set to turn on/off (or up/down) with the same button, you just flick a couple of tiny switches inside a panel on the sockets and remote.
Excellent idea for the less mobile. Also works through walls, we have a few sets and have the remotes set the same, so if we forget to turn stuff off downstairs at night, we can do it from upstairs. An evil friend used it to freak out a friend sleeping in the living room one night too (light on - light off ...... light on - light off) = haunted house - quite funny.

Note: dimmer won't work with energy saving light bulbs.
#23
Also had ours 3 years and all work fine, as do the ones bought for elderly relatives. Ours were half price which worked out at £15 a set - non-dimmer. I'd like to see whoever voted cold finder these cheaper anywhere!!!
#24
Pretty good but as Janesc stated above; they cannot be used to dim energy saving lamps, you can get dimmer switches for them but general switches wont work. All my lamps have been energy savers for years.

I do like the idea of switching my kettle on from my lounge if the range is good enough. The signal would have to travel about 30ft through two thick stone walls.
#25
Great for people like me who are laid up with a broken leg atm! Been considering some of these to make life easier. Thanks for the find.

I work for a company that imports these from china. they are dirt cheap from china. we suply sit-up tv with them and they can often be picked up on there for a 4 pack at around £3 pound plus whatever p&p they charge!

I too decided to investigate this person's previous postings - what a laugh! Virtually every one includes professional level trolling; they are short, just erronious enough to wind people up and get them to bang off a response but not so obviously incorrect as to make people realise that it is not worth the effort to correct them (see this deal for a perfect example!) but mostly just pitiful! And the spelling is just bad enough to question whether English is a language that is used on daily, nay weekly basis! (NB it is always a bad sign to point out other's poor grammar/spelling/punctuation on here, as someone will trawl back and find a misplaced apostrophe from you two years ago lol!)

Anyway, please keep an eye out for him/her and just point out this is a professional, gilt-edged sponsored troll to those who haven't seen such a beast before!

PS if anyone feels the same, please feel free to use the little warning triangle next to her name to make the HUKD admins aware of it too!

We should probably feel sorry for her. If all she is able to express is negative sentiments then she must have a lot of pent up anger and sadness - she probably needs professional help (seriously).
I have one of these sets, not great quality, but does the job fine. I'm quite happy with it for the money. I did not expect it to work with energy savers as you cannot use any kind of dimmer on an energy saving bulb (as far as I know).
Voted hot, and deservedly so.

You can get energy saving bulbs that work with dimmers, I think they are called Megaman but they are not cheap

Good post, I warned of pretty much the same at the top. I thought that they say you can use them on those kinds of things tho, they certainly say speakers are ok but I wouldn't trust them.
