  If you feel your baby has colic, it may well be a degree of reflux, discuss with your doctor, especially if its worse immediately post feed and onlying down, infant gaviscon works well in these situations

  Ours has reflux but infant gaviscon made him constipated, paedeatrician prescribed ranitidine & domperidone, he's still puking loads but he isn't in pain anymore.

  I have to disagree. Definitely worked for our baby. Not even sure how the placebo affect can apply to a baby!

As to the placebo effect - it could apply to parents e.g. you could attribute your baby getting better on his/ her own as evidence that the infacol/ others are working. On the other hand it's your money and your baby so feel free to ignore this advice...
  
  I for one will be investing in good old fashioned paracetamol/ other things for my 15 week old.
