Information for cheap international calls on O2 prepaid

From 17th Aug, O2 Pay As You Go / prepay tarriffs are changed such that calls to 0800, 0844,0845 and 0870 numbers are charged at 15p/min at all time.

This would mean making an international call via those access numbers will cost you 15p/min. Here we have a solution to save you money for international calls by using O2 prepaid free mins in conjunction with our, QX Call, prepay international service. First, we will explain below how you can get the most free minutes from O2. Then, we will explain how you can utilise those mins to access our cheap rate international calls

The following are key features of current O2 Prepay plans:

* O2 offers 10% back on topup if topup is done in an O2 shop.

* Allows user to opt into "Free Long weekends offer" (Free to do so by sending an SMS WEEKENDS YOURPOSTCODE to 21300 (e.g. text WEEKENDS RG1 1AA to 21300) that allows 500 minutes worth of call per month to landline for 2 months once you topup £10 (i.e. 1000 minute for £10 topup).

* If you topup £15 per month and opt in to O2TalkAlotmore by texting MORE to 21300 (free) or by calling 2425 (free), you will get further 150 mins each time.

Summery

If you topup £10 once every 2 month, you will have 500 minutes per month from 00:01 Saturday to 23:59pm Monday every week to call into a landline international access number that begins with 01xxxx or 02xxxxxx.

If you topup £15/month, you will get 500 minutes for used between 00:01 Saturday to 23:59 Monday plus 150 minutes during off peak hours Mon-Fri + weekends.

These 500 mins/month (from long weekend offer) and 150 mins each time you top up £15 (TalkAlotmore) can be used to call our landline access number for international call service, QX Call. QX Call prepay service offers low rates such as 2p/min to Malaysia, China, France, USA etc with PER SECOND billing and No credit expiry. By access our service via 0208/01277 access number using your free minutes, you will get even cheaper rate i.e. 2p cheaper than using 0800/0808 free access number.

Calls made during Saturday, Sunday and Monday will reduce free minutes from Long Weekend offer even if you do have free minutes from TalkAlotmore also. Calls made during Tue-Fri offpeak will reduce free minutes from TalkAlotmore.

Example 1: Long weekend only

* Kim topup £10 once every 2 months on her O2 Prepay mobile. This gives her £11 (including 10% bonus when topup at an O2 shop) worth of O2 calling credit. She also has 500 minutes of free minute to make call to landline during Sat, Sun and Monday.

* She then purchases £20 of calling credit from our QXCall prepay calling account.

* She can make calls between Sat-Mon (long weekend) by dialling 01277 770 300 (this will come out from O2 free minutes) and then 00603xxxxx ( Malaysia) (this comes out from our QX Call prepaid credits).

* Assuming she makes 500 minutes worth of call to Malaysia a month, the effective rate that she pays is £10 on QX Call credit (or 2p/min) using O2 free minutes to access our service.

* She can of course then spend her £11 O2 calling credit elsewhere. Alternatively, she can convert those Prepay credit into further QX Call calling credits, see Converting your O2 credit to QX Call credit section below.

This option will give Kim up to 500 mins/month worth of international calls during Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 2p/min.

Example 2: Long weekend only and TalkAlotMore

* Kim topup £15 once every 2 months on her O2 Prepay mobile. This gives her £16.50 (including 10% bonus when topup at an O2 shop) worth of O2 calling credit. She also has 500 minutes/month of free minutes to make call to landline during Sat, Sun and Monday AND additional 150 mins (one-off per topup) to make call to landline during Mon-Fri off peak and weekend.

* She then purchases £20 of calling credit from our QXCall prepay calling account.

* She can make calls between Sat-Mon (long weekend) and Tue-Fri during offpeak hours (talkalotmore) by dialling 01277 770 300 (this will come out from O2 free minutes) and then 00603xxxxx ( Malaysia) (this comes out from our QX Call prepaid credits).

* Assuming she makes 600 minutes worth of call to Malaysia a month, the effective rate that she pays is £12 on QX Call credit (or 2p/min) using O2 free minutes to access our service.

* She can of course then spend her £16.50 of O2 calling credit elsewhere. Alternatively, she can convert those Prepay credit into further QX Call calling credits, see Converting your O2 credit to QX Call credit section below.

This option will give Kim up to 650 mins/month worth of international calls during Saturday, Sunday, all day Monday and Tue-Fri during offpeak hours at 2p/min (with £13 spent on QX call)

Spending O2 call credits

From the above 2 examples, if Kim wish to make an international call during Tue-Fri peak hours, she can EITHER call our landline access as usual but she will be charged at 25p/min for the first 3 minutes and 5p/mins (suitable for a long call i.e. more than 8 mins) after that OR she can call 08701190200 which will be charged at 15p/min at all time (suitable for a shorter call i.e. less than 8 mins).
Converting your O2 credit to QX Call credit

We are planning to provide premium rate SMS for QX Call credit purchase. You can use O2 calling credit above to purchase QX Call credit by sending text "QX Call" to xxxxx.

You can check our great rate on other destinations here.

Hi,

I have been using this service for last 3 yrs (Qx dial plus) atleast to call international destinations using stored units by using O2 off-peak 0870 minutes.

Its ideal service if somebody has unused off peak 0870 minutes to store on their system and these stored units can later on be spent to call any international destination any time of the week using either 012xx or 0808xx access number. It just use up your stored units depending on your destination and you can top up later (ie store units).

Its bit complex to use but if you understand the system well, u never require to use calling card, 07744 or anything else to call outside Uk.

I can clarify further if required but their website contain enough description to keep you going.

Thanks

I'm bemused by the complexity of some of these deals . Can anyone suggest the best way forward to make Euro calls from the UK to France from one O2 phone to another O2 , bearing in mind charges for both parties either end ?

Thanks
