Just returned from Bavaria & the Austrian Tirol yesterday and I can vouch for all those who say it is a wonderful place. Magnificent views, brilliant food (& beer) and we found the Austrians very friendly. Will definitely be going back at some stage.

Good price. I've bought the same package in the winter when the summer houses become "snow homes". If you're looking for reviews on tripadvisor dont bother. It's allocation on arrival and can be anywhere within 10 min walk form town centre. These will be comfortable 2-3 star B&B most likely with the half board option in a nearby hotel though personally I would recommend trying the many different resteraunts in town.

There is still good skiing to be had at hintertux glacier 30mins bus ride away from town (free in winter, not sure about summer). The webcams and snow depth are impressive and the forecast is snow (only on the glacier - will be 15-20 degrees in mayrhofen)

A ski resort in the summer, what's the point? Give me a sunny beach any day! The reason this is cheap is because it's boring!
Lol, stick to the costas then. I'm sure glad I don't go somewhere to lie on a beach for 2 weeks surrounded by other 'travelers' t
return with just a sun tan and a belly full of english food. Try exploring a little you might be surprised
No Gball it is you that is boring. You must be ignorant not to appreciate the beauty and magic of the mountains.
Signed,
Aesthete.

WOW! I want! If only it were possible!
FTOdude170 - please let me know if you find one!

Still not had a reply from my email. However, when you actually book there's a box (second page) that says 'catering included', so my guess is that catering is included.

I hope so. If it is then it's a mega-stonking deal as opposed to just stonking.
Great deal. I've just received a postcard from Landeck which makes me want to be in the Alps!

Guy's I must have been to about 12 catered chalets (France / Italy / Austria) and never once has it been B&B it just doesn't work like that. Evening meals will be included. I cant believe this is still available tbh

I've been to 6 in Austria and can echo zermatt's comment (love the name btw), never had to pay extra for dinner and they are generally very nice. Only criticism would be that they tend to be carb-tastic and if you're not skiing/boarding all day then the meals may not seem so appealing!

good price all in for Chirstmas week. More suitable to beginners or easily pleased intermediates though.
if anyone does go, i strongly recommend visiting Naturlandia – La Rabassa.
theres this ride called tobotronic which is just awesome (its like a manual rollercoaster where ur the one controlling the breaks)
Yea the beer is cheap but the runs are very limited in Andorra. OK the deal is cheap but I did Livinio in Italy for £199 b&b 2 years ago and the food and drink are even cheaper (much cheaper) and the runs are much more extensive.

This offer has been around for months and was limited to a certain number of places, I can't imagine them having any left,

On a brighter note the snow fall so far this season is as good if not better than last year so enjoy.

It's offered by the 'Association of Snowsports countries' through various operators such as Inghams.

http://www.freshersskiweek.com/

It does appear to be limited but maybe the resorts not exactly heaving due to the credit crunch which is why Inghams are doing it cheap in the first place? You never know so get on the phone and if you get no joy with Inghams then get in touch with the association as they may be able to provide the passes etc direct. If still no joy then chase it up with the rep when you get there. If you don't ask you don't get.
I went to Ruka with Inghams last year. That was half board and the food was absolutely terrible. So much so, that we ended up paying for our own meals instead. Then I had an accident and almost broke my leg. The medical facilities weren't great and I was told I had a fracture (after x-rays were taken) and that turned out to be wrong it was just a bad bruise. All in all I thought Inghams have plenty of room for improvement. So much so that I'm not going to use the £200 compensation voucher they gave me. Instead, I'm off with friends to the Alps this year.

The one good thing is that the reps are all lovely, and the Finnish people are fantastic. The slopes aren't bad and the lifts and kighting are excellent.

You get what you pay for.

Last but not least, about the temperature. Yes, it does go down below -25 degrees in Ruka, but you simply make sure you have lots of layers, and as it's much dryer and less humid than the UK, it actually feels less cold. I felt colder walking in London last night than I did in Ruka!
I have been to Ruka with Inghams for 3 years and going back this year again with them. Always been a great holiday with great skiing. BUT this year Inghams have changed my accomodation at last minute and charged me more for this accomodation, and have now changed the flight from Brittish Airways to Easyjet. So We have paid premium prices now for a budget flight with no refund. I will not be using them again.

Apparently it does....

For a period of one week, from either the 17th or the 24th January 2009, you can learn to ski for free in one of 27 great resorts in Andorra*, Austria, Finland*, France and Switzerland. *Andorra & Finland depart 18th & 25th Jan.

Just book your holiday with Inghams and your tuition, lift passes and equipment hire will be thrown in for free.

This amazing offer has no strings attached and has been brought to you by the Association of Snowsports Countries. So make the most of it and discover the fun of a holiday in the mountains!
