Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shoshanna Dreyfus (M?nie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own...

Wasn't sure about it when I saw it in the cinema but I've been dying to c it again - so much to take in when u watch it, the more I remember about it the better it seems - the bit in the restaurant with the strudle is outstanding! So many other scenes that need to be seen to be believed. Well worth a tenner!

The Kill Bill films were fine, Death Proof was pretty bad...Inglorious Basterds was great!

The scene in the underground bar is worth a tenner alone!

New release or not, £10 is too much for a DVD these days, in my opinion.

I really loved this film, enjoyable mix of a nazi war film with elements of a western, with a touch of pulp fiction. voted hot

Big QT fan, but just couldn't get into this film. For those that haven't seen it, it is 90% in French or German, and personally I found the dialogue (which is what so much of QT's films are about) lost it's impact when being read out of time with the actor's delivery.

I think QT has pulled a clever con with this film. All the advertising is about the Basterds, but in reality they are only on screen for about 15-20 minutes out of 2 1/2 hours. I got the impression he's done this deliberately to get people to watch a foreign language film, which a lot of people normally wouldn't bother to do.

What are you talking about, The main thing about the film is the basterds, if you took any notice of pulp fiction all the scenes interlock, same as this.one. I think you need to watch it again as you clearly never paid any attention to it the 1st time. :D

Great film but will be getting it on bluray :D

Death Proof lol that was shocking!

Gotta disagree. The Basterds were nearly inconsequential to the entire film. If you removed them entirely the end result would have been the same (except for the manner of the cinema-goers deaths - burnt instead of shot). The entire film is really only about 3 characters, and none of them were members of the Basterds.

I think you need to watch it again as you clearly never paid any attention to it the 1st time. :D

lmfao Your still wrong, im not going to argue the fact that you clearly have no clue about this film.

and resevoir dogs is about robbery -that you actualyl never see.

the main central plot device for pulp ficiton is a breif case and its secret contents -which you also never see.

in essence IB is mainly about the basterds, despite their lack of screen time.

The difference being that if you remove the robbery completely from RD you have no movie, and the same with the briefcase in PF. If you remove the Basterds though you still have Landa, Zoller and Shosanna who are the entire film. Without the Basterds Shosanna still loses her family, runs a cinema and starts the fire (with her boyfriend), Zoller still kills 300 Americans and stars in the propaganda film which leads to the première and the fire. Landa still kills Shosanna's family sparking her need for revenge.

But without the Basterds everything else still happens. They actually effect nothing. Oh, except Landa's forehead.

Um... he's right. the Basterds don't actually do much. If you removed them from the film the only thing that would change is Landa would be dead. However it's also kinda the point. We're supposed to go in there with the same sort of attitudes to the Basterds as they held to themselves. We went in believing them to be the heroes of the film, just like the Basterds believed that they would wind up the heroes of the war (which they did in the end, but not solely down to their own actions).

I loved the film. I think it was missing a scene though, could have done with actually seeing the Basterds knock off a Nazi patrol, maybe actually see Stiglitz fire that bloody big gun of his.

I haven't really watched a lot of Quentin Tarantino's films but I enjoyed this one.

Brad Pitt has hardly any screen time but it's Christoph Waltz who steals the show as the "Jew hunter". Melanie Laurent and Diane Kruger look great too. ;-)

I thought Waltz was great in this, would like to see him get an oscar nomination...

By far and away the best film I have ever seen.

One DVD I will be buying when it comes out - might wait to see what other deals are going to be happening before I commit to buy though....
