Have people not realised you can literally buy a 1070 for £320 on Ebay yet? Sometimes even as low as £310. This is massively over paying. Importing from America is going to be far cheaper it seems, compared with UK retail prices.

Could you provide some links to 1070 for £310?

Wouldn't be allowed, would be removed due to Hotukdeals thinking it's "sponsored". Just search GTX 1070 and then click computer components, GPU. Filter by cheapest first. There was one for £315 earlier today. The prices are going down very quick in America, will be around £300 each soon.

It's no cheaper once you factor in tax and duty though.

How have you not realised you would have to pay import duty which would be around £70 plus your warranty might not be valid.

How are people feeling about this deal?

On every 1070 post there are two opinions. One that the prices are a touch high but not too bad and should never be what the 970 was when it was released etc. Whilst some say that nvidia is just ripping us all off with their monopoly.

Can anyone clarify? I'm a stingy get at the best of times so I dont want to be ripped off...but I do want to play Witcher 3 maxed out!

My opinion: at the moment it is the cheapest price for this GPU.Yes, in couple months it will be cheaper. Ripping as off? May be, may be not. It is similar to everything, tvs, mobiles etc. At first prices are high, later coming down. Question is: Are you willing to play game on max settings now or later ( in couple month time)?
I am looking for now, so price is fine for me.

This isn't a direct replacement for the 970. People banging the fan boy drums about how this should be priced exactly like the 970 don't understand that this is a better card at launch than the 970 was.

And the 970 was a GOOD card!

This fills the 980 space from last gen (it's better than a 980ti as well). While the 1080 fills the 980ti space (and it's way better than the 980ti).

Trying to compare this to the 970 just doesn't make sense in terms of performance jumps.

This price is a tad high, but it's close to reasonable.

I'd like to see the cheapest 1070s at 299 and the best AIBs at 359.

That's a good point, if im wanting to play max settings then the price is fine now. Having said that, I would prefer it if this was about 360 hehe, I'd snap it up then!

Thanks for the reply, you've made some good points that have helped me. I'm still not 100% there yet, but definitely answered some questions.

349.99 for a gainward dual fan. Not bad.

Still £40 too expensive. These should be £350 tops. Last generations GTX 970 could be hard for £260. Nvidia is taking everyone for a ride with their new pricing model with the £100+ premium added for a mid-sized chip that's in these graphics cards.

That's a bargain basement non-reference design though. if you're spending a hefty £350 on a card you don't want it to be as cheaply made and purely functional as that Gainward, who are also one of the cheapo Nvidia card manufacturers.

Lol. You do realise the price may convert to £310 but you're also charged another ~£60 on top for the import tax. So basically the same price but with the massive hassle that if the card is faulty or develops a fault, you have to send it all the way back to the U.S.

Hi I'm looking to buy this but I don't have any experience in installing anything in a PC, I have a GTX 970 and well would this just be a straight swap out?

Thanks

Should be straight swap. Depends how many pins 970 has. Also this is quite long. Make sure you have a space in PC case.

Bought this one my self. Had r9 280 dual x of. This one is dead silent and a lot cooler. Not even to talk about performance.
