Prices of graphics cards from Nvidia will plummet once Vega is out.. Should be well worth the wait :)

There is an amazon pre-order price, but no idea if it will actually get to the dispatch stage, either way picked one up as I missed the other deal early this morning. Thanks

Aye, more dodgy activity on Amazon. It's absolutely rife on computing at the moment - I spotted loads of dodgy listings last week and the week before.
#7
have tried the amazon prime pre-order after this morning's other deal, let's see what happens!

'pre-order' X)
#9
there was one of these from the same seller early this morning but has been removed now, so take from that what you will.
#10
Pre-ordered the one this morning and done this one too in the hope that I might be able to persuade them to honour at least one of them for me. Just hope they don't attempt to ship both or I'll go WAY overdrawn.

With orders where they don't have a expected date I think they update you with the delivery date prior to dispatch rather than just randomly ship it one day? Really worried I end up with two, though maybe at these prices two cancellations are more likely.....

Their account was hacked

Looks like one of those scam sellers contact us then we send you fake email looking like Amazon link to buy it but it's not beware, do not use the link they send you.

I've pre-ordered the X4 version on a CC and am hoping it takes a month or so to deliver, by that time I hope the RX490 and Vega pricing is clear, will act accordingly, or worse case just return if the market changes.

Meanwhile I've been enjoying my shiny new GPU for 6 months whilst not seeing much movement in the price. Theres always something around the corner..

Thing is if people have waited this long now without a price drop then seems sensible to wait for the new model. You either buy at the outset or if you've waited and new models are coming your probably sensible to wait for the new models. Not everyone needed a new GPU 6 months ago - nice to have but i'm sure a lot of people would prefer a price drop.

Exactly. And those who wait for the upcoming GPUs for months on end always get mad at the higher prices than the gen before and then vote every GPU deal cold in retaliation until the next generation is out. Rinse, repeat.

Nvidia hasn't had competition from AMD for several years now so didn't expect much from AMD until this year where they will shake the market from Nvidia. Btw my 980ti is more than capable and couldn't justify paying another 600 for the 1080.

I did this too, so now have 3 GTX 1080s on pre-order with Amazon. hope they make good on one of them but not all three!

I was wondering in case I get into a position where I have to choose between them, what is the difference between the X3 and X4 versions of this card? At first when I saw this card I thought it meant triple fan but as the X4 doesn't have four fans that blew my theory...
#20
according to this (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17GtR91NnYElh1wnCOw89c1MdKnUbSxYAlr7dV7ydeDw/edit#gid=0) the difference is in the blowers. Or at least it doesn't appear to be in the clock speeds.

ST i doubt any will get honored but i don't have much experience with these, I tried with this one just in case. It seems to me to be a case of auto matching that hacked guys prices. Once Amazon realise I don't think they will be coming.

X3 is 3 fans.
X4 is 4 fans, the X4 has a small fan faving sideways on in to the heatsink.

Seems to have one of the higher frequency and boost of any card I can see listed on Scan. STRIX OC is the same.

Looks awful though lol.

Thanks, seems that is the one to go for then (don't care how it looks, no windowed case) if I could crowbar the thing in, the Inno 3D GTX780 Triple Fan one I had literally fit by millimeters so it will be tight...

To be fair the Amazon link wasn't there when I looked and it was a reseller, got to be worth a go via Amazon itself.

Screw anything to do with AMD, abysmal company one step behind for the last 8 or so years.

Obviously I assumed you meant that nvidia will drop in price = good, but I'd rather AMD just fell off the planet. :D

Yep and I wish Amazon would do something about it - if someone suddenly lists a large number of desirable electronic items at a very low price they should be flagged and manually checked before going live. I've given up on price tracking now because there's so many scam sellers mucking it up.

There's one here for £353 'like new' by a Velcro bib retailer based in jersey, seems legit!

Articulate reasoning. Are you going to make an effort to justify your position or simply enjoy your trolling?
