The "Intel® Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Up to 256MB shared graphics memory" is the disappointing part. It does look like this video chipset wont be up to the task of running vista with aero turned on.

Actually I think it is one of the most powerful options for built in Gfx, so should be compatible

If you were thinking of buying this then dont delay any longer, I will stick my neck out and say that this deal will cost more from tomorrow (Dell Thursday updates) Its a nice buy at this price.

Will this have an impact of the price from tomorrow (I would assume it could get cheaper)?

May only be the US at this stage.

IMO Dell wont sell cheaper because of vista, they may start to offer vouchers for a reduced price or free? upgrade to vista at some stage but dont hold your breath, its a tricky situation for all manufacturers atm. I think I would stick with XP for the moment while all the bug fixes and emergency service packs are issued for Vista over the coming months.

Maybe not the most powerful but your right in answering the previous poster that it is certainly enough to run vista with aero turned on. A lot of people have misconceptions about the power of onboard gfx and still insist on dedicated options, both for PCs and notebooks. There is no doubt a modern dedicated option is better but this will breeze vista with aero.

I work for another well known manufacturer, kinda like the famous sauce company, and you will get a coupon from certain manufacturers as a add-in to the bill of materials that will get you some upgrades for free (depending on your OEM XP) or Windows Vista Home Basic for approx £29 or Windows Vista Home Premium for £49 (as an upgrade from OEM Home or OEM Pro versions of XP). But part of the MS agreement means only kit that meets the Vista minimum requirements can get the Xpress upgrade coupon so not every box will have one

Back on topic, and even though they are our main competitor, this is a humdinger of a deal.

Well hate to say it but its gone up this week to £548.75 so I hope you took my advice and bought yesterday. Most Dell laptops are up £60 this week.
