So how in the name of Santa does Insta-Snow work? Well, from what we understand, it's a newfangled synthetic polymer with super water-absorbing properties, and it's the only faux snow on the market that erupts when water is added.

Non-toxic Insta-Snow is so realistic that it's used by movie makers and indoor snowdomes, but it's also ideal for creating a festive look in your humble abode. Sprinkle it on your Christmas tree, over presents, on the lawn or simply demonstrate its jaw-dropping powers of eruption at festive (or not so festive) shindigs. With Insta-Snow seasons are totally irrelevant!

Insta-Snow will start to dehydrate after a few days, so just spray it with water and fluff it up with your fingers to give it a fresh, fluffy look. You can also let the snow dry out completely and use it again. The dry form of Insta-Snow will last forever!

We think Insta-Snow is the best snow-related innovation since naked outdoor hot tub parties, and we really can't over emphasise how mind-boggling watching this stuff expand is. If you're looking for faux snow, it's the white stuff!

I got some similar stuff last year, and it's pretty good, although you don't get all that much in the box.
Still, worth a fiver definitely, to throw on the tree for the kids.

you would need a lot to do snow angels in garden - great stuff though - great price

snow machine from maplins is brilliant - kids parties etc - bit pricey but well worth it

Completely off key but if you stump up £500 Sno-Zone will come and dump a whole load of real snow on your house on Christmas morning.

Think price is dependant on amount of snow required and distance from a Sno-Zone but happy days, white christmas.

:-D

Thats a good price, i was @ Hamleys on Sat and they were selling it there for £10. They did say it would make 1kg of snow, they also said that it eventually dries up so you can re-use (i wasn't convinced mind!). Good find

Thanks for all the feedback on this guys :)

probably sounds like a stupid question, but does it melt and create a 'pool' of water? (i.e; like real snow)

deciding whether to cover up stuff or not... wouldnt want it all damp!! anyone know ???

EDIT: Also how long will it last?

I haven't used this brand but had a test tube of instant snow from asda last year - was a little wet but didn't pool - fine for on tree as long as no sockets underneath or other electricals.

I bought this from Firebox last year, it's great fun, we put it all over the garden - the kids loved :) HOT.

Could be gotten a cheaper if you happen to know a local chemical supplier that stocks sodium polyacrylate.
Not realistic for all; appreciated.

Neither - we just put it over the patio area - not the entire garden :p. We bought 4 small tubs of it (it was reduced about 2/3 weeks before last Christmas) and it went a long way - enough for the kids to enjoy anyway.

We bought a different brand from Harrods last year and the kids loved it, especially watching it grow when you add the water!

We put ours in a large plastic toy box and it was about 6" deep for them to play with It was meant to then dry out (go back to powder so it doesn't go into a pool of water) but ours hasn't dried out properly. I tried it last week and it wasn't reusable so chucked it.

At this price I'll buy some more, thanks voted hot
