Jump to unread Post a CommentI did a clean install instead of from image, but the norton ghost software would have taken about 30 mins approx to make an image onto a usb drive instead and then pop in the new SSD and restore from the usb image. I wanted to change up a few things here and there though, but now I've got everything how I want it with all updates etc and have created an image onto a usb drive, you can also use the image to restore multiple computers(with same or different hardware) from it.. will save me a bit of time in the future with family's PCs/Laptops, just have to change windows key then :) [edit] forgot to mention that one of the best things about norton ghost is that my 30GB (approx) disk gets compressed to only 10GB as an image file... so possible to put onto a smaller HDD if you have an old ps3 drive or soemthing and put in a safe place.
My Laptop now cold boots in approx 10-15 seconds from pressing the button to where it is useable with all apps etc.... so no need to use hibernate anymore (in fact you shouldn't)... so just have my slimline blu-ray writer to insall when it comes in the next few days (£58) and I'm all set for the next few years maybe :D
