That's the price, Aria sneakily add VAT to the delivery cost. Still the cheapest anywhere.
#9
shame about the vendor, aria mmmmmm bad
#10
Realy? I never had any problems with them... You had a bad experience?
#11
if your thinking of overclocking these chips then think again as the latest batches coming from intel will not be like the old ones
#12

In a nutshell, it's making a computer run faster than it's supposed to via adjustments in the clock speed. So, or instance, you can make your 2ghz processor run at more like 3ghz, so long as you have good cooling inside your PC (as overclocking will generate a load of extra heat). Hope that helps

Just had mine delivered today.

It is from batch L628F028, and from looking around forums will clock to 3.6GHz with stock cooling and over 4GHz with additional cooling, so it's far from doom and gloom.
It's a case of try it on your own system and see what you get, as not everyone will get the same results with same batch. :whistling:

I am still waiting for memory and graphics card to be delivered from elsewhere, but the info below is from users with same batch.

E6600 L628F028 (1/23/2007)
3.6Ghz (400x9) @ stock (AW9D-Max, 1.3250v)
4.096Ghz (455x9) @ 1.6250
Cooling: Thermaltake Bigwater 745 (mounted inside CM Stacker T01)
Temps: stock (3.6Ghz) idle = 18~19c
4.096Ghz idle=24~28

And another..

E6600 @3.51Ghz 1.45v L628F028

Just had mine delivered. It's from L640F159. Apparently an overclocker's nightmare  but mine is hopefully a half-decent overclockable specimen. Wanna at least hit 3.0GHz on air :?.

That's what I recieved last week :-(
It seems ALL latter batches made in Malaysia (around feb onwards) will suffer the same ill fait. However I really do think it depends more on the motherboard & each individual cpu.
#23
I have the same batch.

Any more info on this, why is it bad for overclocking?

Thanks
#24
do you think this will become cheaper in 4-6 weeks ? or do you think other places will be matching this price by then ?

oh, & why are they bad for overclocking ? is overclocking easy (generally, as dont reaaly know much about it other than what it does)?

Not sure just what's been rumoured around the web. I think it's to do with tighter quality control since production move to Malaysia. These being the first batch (F) to do so. CPU's that exceed well beyond their limits are now (as I gather) being rebadged as faster models. Point in being, less wastage & more profit :-( I also think the voltage stepping has changed.
