Intels Conroe design makes their older Pentium chips look very, very ordinary. As far as gaming performance goes, Intel is looking very strong and as we have predicated and Intel told many people at the Computex show throughout the week, Intel is looking like they will be the gamer CPU of choice in the remainder 2006 and all of 2007. If you crave the absolute quickest CPU for your PC their is nothing faster than Intel latest Conroe processors, be prepared as you will be amazed. The E6xxx series offer great value for money and are a favourite choice amongst overclockers with reports of overclocks well over 3.2GHz already achieved with just basic air cooling. Intel is set to take back the performance crown for 2006 and 2007 again!

I would consider holding fire on this for a few days. Intel prices are all supposed to be being reduced on the 22nd & this may just be a reflection of those changes. I believe the 6700 is going to be the price the 6600 was.

On the other hand it may be agreat deal.....

It is a good price with many other retailers still £300+. But scan do it for £217.25 as standard, while overclockers normal price is £317 (dabs is £303 for example). Unfortunately overclockers in general don't seem to be best on price these days. I stopped using them due to poor customer service a while back and started using overclock.co.uk instead, but have to admit overclockers used to be good on price..alas no more it would seem. :( Guess someone has to pay for the boss's new Porsche.

I got one of these CPU's after owning an AMD 4800 and the 6700 is very very fast CPU:)

I agree teak...when things go wrong with them it goes wrong big time and they just muck it up. I had a faulty GFX (probably customer returns as it had already been opened, but they sold them anyway) and they did not listen to any of my e-mails and just made up their own minds regarding the RMA. I've lost money with them which I should've claimed through the small claims court (about £100)...but I just don't have the time to chase it up. They never replied to any of my letters or later e-mails which kindly stated the problems and the money that they owed me.

I would never shop there again...besides there are many others now offering the same and cheaper products. I still view their draconian forums from time to time tho as some people on their do offer good advice. In my opinion OcUK just want your money now, hence the BUY NOW plastered everywhere. They used to be quite good.

No disrespect to nadeboy and this topic...it is a good price but wait a couple of weeks for all e-tailors to iron out their prices. The Intel price cuts are coming 22nd April onwards...as Chris has pointed out.

It's on their 'This Week Only' special (Thurs-Thurs) so expect it to be cheaper within two weeks anyway...
