The pound is much weaker now, prices go up alot. Pound used to be around £1= $1.90/$2 but now its £1= $1.48 which is huge difference, prices upped alot including hardware.

|Good price for it now though so voted hot, bought it for £110 in early feb so glad i bought it then :).

Ye I voted hot anyway

Hate the fluctuations in computer parts.

Bought a monitor the other week, next day it had went up a tenner. Lucky i got it when I did lol.

Damn Credit Crunch eh.

you can get an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Kentsfield Core, S775, 2.40 GHz 1066MHz 8MB Cache at Scan on their today only page for £144.51 with free delivery for AV forums members, i think for the tiny amount extra i'd be heading for the Quad !

still an ok price though for the E8400.... i know what you mean about the fluctuating prices its a pain, you dont know whether to grab something you know your going to need, when you see it, or wait as it usually gets cheaper, only to get stung more !

The E8400 is a far better gaming processor though, and if you don't multi task you will see large increases in speed.

ahhhh..... i'd be more inclined to multi-task stuff than play games, not much of a games player, maybe thats why my thinking is heading me in that direction

Hardly, the E8400 is technically faster in non-multicored games but the difference is generally only an FPS or two which is not going to be noticible. It may become better in future games, but it seems likely any future games with demanding CPU requirements will be implementing multicore support anyway.
