Looks pretty good. crossfire MoBo supports crossfire (ATI), alone costs £100, though no in video output, so will have to buy a graphics card. Not a huge draw back, as a serious gamer would want to anyway.

Not bad at all! :)

Great deal there. Voted hot. Amazing, i5 2500k build for less than £500 and the onboard gpu on Sandy Brige isn't too bad at all as far as onboard graphics cards go.

But the P67 motherboard supplied in this bundle doesn't support the use of the onboard GPU, only the H67 does, bit stupid by Intel IMO.

So to use this PC you have to buy an additional dedicated graphics card???

Pretty decent selection of parts there.

The CPU model is the best choice of the 2500 range with the "K" suffix for unlocked multiplyer.
The harddrive is one of the top rated 1TB drives of the last few years
Decent brand of decent speed DDR3 RAM

Lack of a graphics card will make this appeal to far more people who would want to select that part themselves anyway, rather than limit the bundle to one card.

Power supply should do the trick providing you don't want to SLi 2 powerful cards, though if you were planning to do that you'd probably have specced the whole bundle as individual parts anyway.

Good spot and worth posting.

I thought this was a pimped out shredder when I looked at the photo then read the description:D

not a bad spec, but little point in offering the 'k' chip as most people who buy systems would not be overclockers and that is pretty much the only reason why I would get a 'k' chip over a non 'k' one

as others have said, the lack of gfx is a very big oversight by Scan

personally if they got the normal 2500 CPU and the small saving made by that can be used on a half-decent gfx card and make the system 499 then it would be a pretty decent deal

nice case!

Is this system assembled or do you have to build this yourself?

hot, a decent GPU £100-125 would make this package very attractive.

Still would have been even hotter for an extra £50-£60 to include the 2600k
#11
not a bad spec, although personally I would prefer a bit more RAM and the need of a graphic card which would add to the cost. voted hot anyway.

I think is DIY.

On the other hand does anybody knows if that case is any good and would it fit gtx 580?

Cheers

So, if you get H67 you don't need a graphics card, but you can't overclock.

If you get the P67 you can overclock, but you need a graphics card?

Sorry if being dense - I'm completely new to the intricacies of PC's. I'm interested because I want to build a PC but have never done so before. Got to start sometime! :)

Very interesting feedback -- especially about the H67 motherboard is needed if you don't want a separate GPU (major point of Sandy Bridge). I also don't want to build a PC myself.

I found this on EasyPC-UK at £499.99 + delivery:
http://www.easypc-uk.com/photography-systems/36-core-i5-750-4gb-ddr3-500gb-9500gt-1gb.html
"Core i5 2500K SKT 1155 4gb DDR3 500GB"
GIGABYTE SKT-1155 GA-H67MA-UD2H"

Comments appreciated from the system builders on this board.

i went there & it says i'm entitled to it. then i go & add the things but it still asks for delivery cost. i saved the basket so will call them tomorrow & see if they can sort it over the phone.

I'm ordering a Akasa Vortexx neo for a 4870 as the one there has a busted fan. Before I order it I want to know if the 4870 still works. Can I turn on the PC with it in even for a few second to see if it works or with it burn out?. Another idea I had was to stick a case fan on the heatsink temporarily to see if it works.

i think you have to post a minimum number of times(right?) to get free delivery

be careful you can still buy this bundle - it expires tonight very soon.. not sure if still available tomorrow

Hi, Just for confirmation, the only difference between the 2500 and the 2500k is the latter can be overclocked. Apart fromthis they are exactly the same spec?
#28
Weird config.

P67 doesn't have onboard video, so where's the video card?

H67 motherboard would have had onboard video and thus not needed a video card, but can't overclock, which would make the unlocked 2500K pointless.

Not so. The HD 3000 graphics on the K series are far superior to the HD 2000 graphics on the non K's

The HD 3000 gfx are comparable to a £40-50 gfx card.

It's a bizarre situation Intel have created.

So I am thinking about buying this. It will be fine if I grab a mid range gfx card right?

Yes, or even £35 low end cards can do 1080P and HD encoding now.

Oh nice thank you for the quick reply.
#32
Thinking of going for this. Not really big on overclocking myself, so aside from it been the unlocked chip, anyone see anything of note that might make me change my mind? Would like to add a 6850 at some point too.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers.
