239.99 at Scan I think?? I'm sure that's what I saw earlier

Good deal. Personally I'd rather push pins into my eyes than shop at 'Scam' though. If you've ever have to return something to them you'll know what I mean...

As General Kurtz said, "...the horror...".

Very nice indeed, alas i'm going to wait for skylake only because of ddr4 support, otherwise would love to use this.

Better start saving I have a feeling the next couple of years are going to be good for PC gamers, here's hoping for a Haswell-E 6 or 8 core, DDR4 RAM and a GTX 800 or 900 series card.
#9
The only difference is the core clock speed upto 4ghz and they are a bit cooler its the same as the 4770k in fact the 4770k is a better overclocker so I don't know why everyone is getting so excited. Intel should be up their game there has been very little change even my 3770 is more then a match for this at clock to clock speeds.

anyone know of good deals for the i5 one?

Isn't Broadwell due this year?

I got the Aria post for this deal this morning and they only had 3 in stock (didn't post deal as my smartphone has very patchy reception at work) . Sods law for me, literally built a new PC a few weeks ago with the 4770k processor (3.5/3.9GHz) for literally a fiver less than this deal.

Out of interest, has anybody found any software that makes good use of the Quick Sync video feature? I've had a CPU that supports it for a couple of years but never really found much use for it.
#14
Have you seen the stock air temps on these? Redic.

That's the price it shows me when I am at the checkout, when delivery costs are included. Am I doing something wrong?

According to OCUK Forum thread:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18606730

and a Tech Report article:
http://techreport.com/review/26683/overclocking-the-core-i7-4790k/4

it seems that early examples of the Devil’s Canyon CPUs (i7 4790K) are actually pre-selected 4770K CPUs manfactured in 2013 (as per their “L Code” being L3xxxx and not L4xxxx, i.e. 2014) that are qualified to run at the wizbang 4.5 GHz speed – but no more (sweets, heh, heh) – before the 4770Ks were to be replaced by this DC 4790K. How devilish of zer Bigg Vun should this is true !

This is perhaps the reason why nobody is able to get this DC beyond 4.8GHz. As per the conclusion page of the aforementioned TR link:

“When I let slip on Twitter that Devil's Canyon overclocking didn't look much different from Haswell overclocking, I got a reply from one particularly vocal Intel employee who told me, essentially, two things. One, wait for the production units and see how they do overall. And two, the big gains will come when "overclockers" find those special, magic chips capable of especially high clocks. Those should happen more often with Devil's Canyon.”

All conjecture, of course, with the assumption to end all assumptions being that the L Code might be crucial bit. All guesswork, of course, but no one should listen to those whose duty is to mint and nuffin’ else. How velly intelesting !! Caveat Emptor.

Eh, it said out of stock when I placed the order and yet it still accepted my payment. Does this mean it'll still come say within the next 2 weeks?
