Intel i5 3750K 3.4GHz Ivy Bridge processor £179.99 + FREE DEL @ Novatech

conorcasey8conorcasey8

Cheapest price ive seen so far, although have a sneaking suspicion that amazon or ebuyer may beat this price come tomorrow!

The deal is for the 3570K not 3750K.

Two months after I got my 2500k for £10 less. Oh well. I'm clinging to the reports that IB run 20% hotter than SB - so maybe not as overclockable. We'll see...

I have a H80 in my current setup so hopefully that will be enough to keep it cool :D Also the fact this thing has such good integrated graphics means it should be easier on my GPU for when im not gaming or in need to serious graphics horsepower :)

Does it have intelligent graphics switching like that? The power saving from that would make the CPU even more interesting to me.

Anybody know when the i7s come out? UPDATE: Nevermind! I've found that they're available today!

i believe you can switch between discrete and intergrated graphics depending on the task at hand. So for browsing etc it would use the igp and then switch to the discrete card for 3d gaming or more demanding tasks.

Ive not used the tech myself, but seen videos showing it using both the intergrated and seperate graphics card at the same time to boost performance even further.

So not only can it be used for increase power effeciency by switching between intergrated and discrete graphics, but it can also utilise them both together. Seems like you can have your cake and eat it.

Scan is superb for deliveries - the complete opposite end of the spectrum from eBuyer, in fact. Next day delivery. But after sales......thats another matter. On a par with PC World. THAT bad.

I am finding it very hard to get excited about Ivybridge. The i5 2500K, assuming you did well in the silicone lottery and also have a good aftermarket air cooler, overclocks a little beyond 5Ghz on a good Z77 chipset motherboard, or at least does 4.7Ghz at comfortable temps with a Noctua NH-D14 cooler or better still a Corsair H100. The Ivybridge K-series CPUs need a much more expensive watercooling loop to hit a similar stable 24/7 overclock and even there the temperatures are still a bit bonkers compared to Sandybridge 2500K/2600K when you go above 4.7Ghz. 4.6Ghz is perfectly respectable, of course, and there are still a host of reasons to go Ivybridge but... if i5 2500K goes below £150 and you get a kick out of overclocking it to beyond Ivybridge performance in a handful of benchmarks, that might be a better place to get your O/C kicks until later revisions of the Ivybridge chips.
