Intel HD Graphics 4600

Product Description
Intel's 4th gen processor codename: Haswell offers superior performance over the previous generation Ivybridge by up to 10% clock for clock. This astounding performance boost results in performance improvements in multi-tasking, encoding, gaming and multithreaded applications. Intel's 4th generation processor has improved PCI-Lane 3.0 bandwidth which helps further boost performance of latest generation 3 graphics cards for the ultimate gaming experience.
For overclocking enthusiasts, Intel's 4th gen CPU has improved memory overclocking support, with up to and beyond 3000MHz possible with the very best memory kits. Memory bandwidth is critically important to Haswell compared to previous generations. High frequency memory performance significantly improves encoding, gaming and benchmarking tasks.

The biggest leap in Intel's Haswell processor is the on-board graphics which is now up to 2.6x faster than previous HD4000 found in the Ivybridge CPU. What this means is these latest processors can actually play the latest games in HD with low/medium settings applied. Of course if you want to experience True HD gaming at maximum details then a dedicated graphics card is still a must.

There are two words in your vocabulary that should never meet-Game and Over. You love playing, and you love winning, so you demand unmatched performance, the ability to customize your rig, and features that put you in control of the action. With Intel technology, you step into a heart-pounding experience. Pick up your weapon, challenge your friends, and experience gaming at its best-because the only thing more amazing than Intel technology is what you'll do with it.

As a creative force and a professional, you must continually balance your vision with the deadlines of the real world. Intel technology helps you keep up with your creativity with unmatched and customizable performance, and feature's that give you full control to optimize your workflow and maximize your productivity. So keep imagining, keep creating, and take your inspiration to the limit-because the only thing more amazing than Intel technology is what you'll do with it.

The 8350 is marginally better and the 8320 is marginally worse. This price seems about right.

4 cores 4 threads.

Only i5 mobile processors are dual core quad thread.

whats the thoughts on i3 4150 vs g3258 for htpc usage, streaming, downloading - this kind of multitasking?

Shakes head good luck with that AMD are light years behind Intel right now.

Anyway I would always go with the i5-3330 as you can still overclock them something Hawell removed and the motherboards are cheaper.

AMD are still making CPUs?

Joking aside, my first 1ghz was AMD... loved the Athlon 64 series... but sadly time are not the same.

This MB is ok for any non K i5/7 and you can set max turbo for all cores.
Asus MultiCore Enhancement change Disabled to Auto
For example i5-4570 run @3.6GHz on all 4 cores

Considering the 8320 is just an underclocked 8350 you can just get it to the same speed and basically the same thing. The 8350 competes with even the i7's so not sure what you're on about...

I'd rather spend the extra £20 on the i5 and use half the amount of electricity compared to the AMD. The i5 also blows the AMD chip out of the water in single threaded apps which for most users is what counts.

Also for many non gamers the Intel HD 4600 in the i5 is a decent substitute for having a discrete GPU.

In rendering maybe but not in gaming Intel are miles ahead. Skyrim on Amd Fx is painful. I have owned a Fx 8320 at 4.4ghz and went to a Intel i7 3770 non k and it was night and day in gaming. If you wanted to go Amd please get the Fx 6300 its much better value for money.

Did you know that the 4.7ghz 9590 Is only on par with the old Bloomfield i7 960 in single thread applications.

I would go with ivy bridge for example I had a I7 3770 non k running at 4.2ghz. Hawell removed the ability to do this. With the below setup you can go to at least 3.8ghz on full load.

i got this just recently for a mini itx build and the good thing about this is it is not a haswell refresh.

For anyone looking at CPUs beware the refresh and potential motherboard bios updates that come with them, i almost bought a 4460 and would have been screwed as you need the most recent bios to support refresh chips (or a mobo already up to date).

this was just a pointer for anyone like me thinking ooh the 4460 is almost the same price

For the sake of £30, I don't really understand why you would choose this over a 4670k.
It only exists to give PC vendors 'expensive' upgrade options.

An unpopular chip that you would struggle to sell.
No idea why this is hot.

Well I suppose its because its the cheapest quad core SKU. If your not going to overclock it or sell it on then at stock the 4670k is not 20% faster yet costs a fifth more.

What if you don't OC?
4670k is 25-30% more expensive and only 12-15% faster then 4440

anyway now up to £126.00

In the grand scheme of things it's a few pints.
If I could throw £30 at my processor to make it 20% faster....

While I appreciate what you are saying and would buy the k series myself if moneys tight it could be better spent elsewhere. The extra money could get you 8gb of ram rather than 4gb. Or an SSD boot drive. Or the next graphics card up which might improve performance more than the small speed bump of the CPU.

Well I'm hoping to have a play with a A8-7600 if Amazon ever get stock.

Yes there are several older gen ones. OK for socket 1150 they are all quad core as far as I'm aware.

I can see both sides of the argument, but I use one of these in my office so really did not need or could be bothered to overclock it. All in a mini itx build, it is ideal.
