For those looking at a bit more grunt than the entry level bay trail dn2820 based NUC, Maplins have reduced the price of the i3 Haswell NUC by £60

Note this is the larger case version that allows the installation of both an MSata and a 2.5in HDD

Don't know how long it will last seeing as the smaller cased version is still £259.99 on their site

Could be cheaper if you have any vouchers too :-)

I'd spend that little bit more for the i5 version, not the new ones but the older model. Probably can be had for about £240 delivered.

There's the new i5 version that can fit 2.5" hdd going for 269.98 (+99p p&p) @Dabs. The i5 cpu inside this one is the same as the macbook air and the new cheaper iMac that was released today. Also, it has the more powerful HD5000 gpu so should easily handle all your videos and light gaming. Amazon still has it for 319.99 and it's cheaper than its smaller non-hdd brother!

Whilst i posted this deal i have owned a d54250wkyh for a couple of months that I bought from dabs. Its a cracking piece of kit but do I think its worth £60 more (the difference was less back then). Hmm that's a tough call as I don't game on it so its current duties are windows 8.1 office 2013, handbrake and Plex home theatre all of which I reckon the d34010 could handle.

I'm looking for a small pc, like these nuc's or acer Revo's, to do xbmc.
High quality 1080p, properly quick, fluid, big library, some flac's.
What minimum should I get? Could you please recommend something?
Thank you.

I was looking at one of these for a HTPC as it would appear my HP MicroServer with GT640 won't run full 3D BluRay isos without stuttering

Apparently you need an NUC with HD4600 or above for 23.976fps

Eventually ditched this idea as there are media players that do it for at least £100 cheaper and to play 3d bluray ISOs seems to be a hassle on pc

Need to mount ISO and then use power dvd or total media theatre

I will miss xbmc though :,-(

Yeah, for most users this NUC or even the celeron posted before would be fine.

However, if you want to add stuff later e.g. multi-client plex transcoding, playing blu-ray isos (like the ones that @EMM386 wanted to do above), have extra gpu power for a 4K display, or turn it into a full desktop then I much prefer to have the extra grunt of the 4250 version now than having to replace the whole NUC later.

nice deal, picked up a second hand celeron dual-core one for £80, hoping that'll be a good HTPC :)

A friend of mine wants a small PC to use mainly for web browsing and video streaming to his 50 inch TV.
I was thinking to custom built one around http://www.ebuyer.com/544920-coolermaster-elite-130-g550m-550w-modular-psu-elite-130-g550m

Which of these NUC machines is best for the job? Can it accommodate a 2TB standard HDD + 8GB of ram?
Can it play x264 30GB Blue-Ray Isos?
Can it play Counter Strike Source for example?
