Very limited stock, not available online - give your local store a call and they can tell you who has any stock in your local area.

Sorry, not aware of the SKU code (forget to check!) but trust me this deal exists - just not to common in stores.

Retail boxed, includes fan in the box and a 3 year warranty.

If you vote cold, then please, point out where it's cheaper...!
#2
I was going to do an i7 build but this is a good CPU for the money. Very tempted.
#3
its not so much finding it cheaper, its finding it at all at PC world!!

good price, but i doubt anyone will find one. BTW i didnt vote either way

Well in Suffolk alone there are 3 so...
#5
good price indeed but i do agree with the above comment that it wll be hard to find in pcworld.
#6
Even if only few manage to find any then I think it worth posting. Hot for me.
#7
Jakg, Did you check in store? I will have a walk to my local PC World tomorrow but its 2 miles away so want to make sure the walk is worth it.
#8
"did I check in store"?

I looked on the system and found ~3 in Suffolk, for example..
#9
I have checked online and it says that nothing is coming up under Intel CPU's. I'm guessing you work there?
banned#10
Good price but last time I reserved an item to pick up at PC World they didn't even have the deceny to contact me that they had none in stock. Their 'reserve' system is utter crap.
#11
It doesn't show online (few clearance stuff does) - the only way is to call the store and ask.

If I did work there, I couldn't admit to it as self promotion is banned on HUKD.
#12
Knowing PissyWorld's "Stock System" 3 in store could easily be 0 in store. Has anyone ever found one of their £xx.97 bargains?
#13
I will have a walk up in the morning and let you all know if my local store has any.
#14
could i add this to a dell inspiron 530?

thank you

In stock in Sheffield Meadowhall for £121.79!

The staff did a check at other stores and the ones that had them in stock were the same price!

£99.97 - I think not!
#16
If they are really selling the Q9400 for £99.97, then it's a brilliant deal. The cheapest price I could find online is just over £140 including VAT and delivery.

If what Coony said (actually they are sold at £121.79), then it's still a decent price.

Any chance it might be mixed up with a Q8400?

Could you perhaps see if there is any in the Glasgow area, ie East Kilbride or Finniston store?
#18
Oh well. Saves a walk!

Then they are wrong, the Q9400 is nationwide at £99.97.

No chance at all - the only 2 Intel Quad-Core CPU's they stock are the Q9400 (£99.97), & the Q6600 (£146.something).

Should anyone get 1 at the right price, how could you find out if your pc would be upgradeable with this please?

Many thanks, from a basic pc user, Dell Optiplex 280 - Everest info-

From looking on the net, it appears to be this type - Socket 775 (LGA775 / Socket T)

Info on this processor at pcworld seems to be also socket 775 - (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_Extreme_Edition/Intel-Pentium%20Extreme%20Edition%20965%20HH80553PH1094M%20(BX80553965).html)

CPU part number HH80553PH1094M (QMUJ, SL9AN)
Box part number BX80553965 (SL9AN)
Frequency (MHz) ? 3733
Bus speed (MHz) ? 1066
Clock multiplier ? 14
Package 775-land Flip Chip Land Grid Array (FC-LGA6)
1.48" x 1.48" (3.75 cm x 3.75 cm)
Socket Socket 775 (LGA775)

So, thank you and rep if you can add some sense to this, I see that socket is the same, but that dimensions are slightly different, so a physical reason may stop it. Otherwise, I am pretty clueless when it comes to pcs.

thanks ;)

Don't think the chipset Intel Grantsdale-G i915G supports this processor intel appear to have stopped supporting chipset too so no bios updates

You may be able to but will probably need the latest bios update,Dell sell a 530 with this chip in,

q6600 has more options for overclocking though. But yeah - better out the box.
#25
Yep - can confirm the price is correct at £99.97.

They apparently have 1display unit each at Beckton, Enfield, Lakeside.

Had a look in Romford - the box was so battered but could be useful info for someone. They also had a E6550 C2D for £59.97.
#26
hot....Dont know how many they had but saw at least one in Leeds ( Beeston Ringroad) this afternoon, if I was not building an i7 rig I'd have got one.

Looks good. Just mulling over whether it's better value (I know it's faster) than an Athlon II X4 620. Passmark seems to suggest they might be comparable value-wise, unless I'm reading the wrong lines! I'd have thought the Q9400 would be the better choice, though.
#29

I can find a million places where it's actually AVAILABLE.
#30
this hot... reason good price and it a retail 3 year warranty - not like OEM...

I voted cold just because comments like that pîss me off, as if you're owed some kind of explanation?
Hope that helps :p

Dont suppose anyone knows if they have any at slough?

Voting cold for no reason ****** everyone else off. If you have nothing to contribute, dont.

If you could get it cheaper than this i'd love to buy it.

If not, your just stopping people from benefiting - wtf is the point in voting cold for no reason?

Whenever you post a deal you ALWAYS get cold votes for no reason at all, and they NEVER post why - it ****** me off as if it's cheaper somewhere else i'd buy it there but I just dont know!
#35
There was one in stock in Garston, Liverpool on Monday.

The Q9400 will paste the Athlon in every way and its around the speed of the top line Phenom II and the overclocking headroom pushes it way way past the Phenom. That passmark is the biggest load of rubbish I've ever tried it gave my 3.6 Q6600 800 points and it said in the explanation that a Pentium 4 scores around 750, When i ran the full test it gave me some really low score even though its a Quad with 8gb DDR2-1000mhz with a 4890gpu.

Why? Read the rules about posting, cold votes are fine if there's a valid reason but because you don't like his comment that's just sad, grow up the fact you voted cold for a CPU what until 6 months ago was pretty much one of the fastest CPUs you could buy tells me your opinion is not worth **** anyway so you would be better saying nothing at all.:x

Its discretionary for store manager to doctor prices.

If a certain area or store wasn't shifting a particular product as its been superseded by a new and improved model which happened to be competitive with old stock obviously they then have the ability to reduce a earlier product for their particular store to make way for the new stock.

When a store manager does this it does not show up on the system unless it is an official sale or promotion.

As a result Sheffield Meadow hall system wouldn't be aware of any local store discounts

Great price however I've never found anything rare in PCWorld, will give it a go tomorrow

I know what you mean by this. Come on people, who really cares? It's just a forum for crying out loud. What do you care if it's hot or not. When I list a deal, I really really don't care what vote it gets, just as long as I know I tried to help others.

Do you get anything in return if your deal goes hot? Can you actually stop people from voting cold?

Anyway, specs: http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB6B just in case anyone don't know what this is.

Will try the Romford store. Thanks KayeeEn.

And thanks OP.
