Hi,

Just seen this whilst looking at other bargains on the Tesco threads. Seems a good deal although I don't have one so can't vouch for its quality. Basically its a DAB tuner that plugs into your hifi via its aux input. Apparently it has a remote control as well.

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-0345.aspx

Was £49.99 now £12.49

This Intempo Digital DAB Adaptor for Hi-Fi's comes in a silver colour with pre-set stations and converts your Hi-Fi into receiving DAB digital radio through its auxiliary output function. It also features a remote control and easy to use.

Brand Intempo
Colour Silver
Features of Product Converts HI fI to receive DAB digital radio, aux output, remote control, 10 presets included
Pre-set Stations Yes
Product Depth 7 cm
Product Height 7 cm
Product Width 15 cm
Tuner DAB Only

You can get half price del by adding a £2.47 sim card (which has free del) and there are some codes for £5 off £20 spend. Also I think you can get quidco on this too.

Cheers
Rob

Hi all - would anyone have any experience of this? It seems to be just what I'm after, as I don't want to give up my system but it doesn't have DAB which I really enjoy.

Has anybody got this voucher code to work?

yes this will work with your existing hi fi as long as you have a spare aux option, as there are left and right phono from the dab unit that plug into your spare auxilary left and right . turn the hi fi on and you have crystal clear dab. i have a genus model which is similar and the sound is amazing. fantasatic deal by the way .

is DAB really broadcast at very low bitrate, somebody said on here that it was equivalent to a 128kbps MP3, that cant be true?can it?
#9
Gone Out Of Stock now, shame.
#10
It seems to be in stock here, I simulated an order all the way to the payment (didn't go further) and it never mentioned that it was out of stock...

It says:
Final chance to buy - Order now whilst stocks last.

DAB only has a couple of years left to run, it will then be replaced with DAB+ That is why all the companies and shops are selling of DAB players really cheap at the moment - they are trying to clear their stocks before the next generation of DAB players come out - the new ones will be able to pick up both DAB and DAB+ but when DAB+ does come out all these old DAB players will be useless.. however at the price that this one is going for even if it only has 2 years life in it then it's still a good deal.

Why would they be "selling off stock cheap" as you say when they are still buying in many thousands of the current generation DAB units? It's not like they're clearing the shelves for next gen units is it!

They are buying in thousands as they too are getting them cheap - buy one if you want but you have been warned they will be only good as door stops in a couple of years time
#16
What you're saying is what people have said for 1-3 years and yet still DAB units are produced and sold, some units are sold discounted due to low demand, other units aren't. I don't think this is discounted for any reason except low demand for it.

Great deal, just ordered me a couple at that price. Why worry about if these things will work in 2 years or not. At this price does it really matter

Welcome Steviecross - and that is exactly what I said in my original post.. I just feel sorry for people spending hundreds on a system that will be out of date/use pretty quickly

Thats unbelievable, why would anyone want DAB? Obviously listening to music is a non-starter but I suppose if youre into talk radio then its acceptable

Before I bought my DAB tuner , costing £100's not £10's , I asked my dealer the question about DAB+ . I was told that it will all be ok as DAB will still be transmitted alongside the new DAB+ so reception will still be available .
#22
Makes me glad I got these at Bush £15 over a year ago now and not the market price of £30+ they are now.

What I want to know is if FM Radio will be turned off like UV-HF analogue will be as those Bushes do FM Radio and will be nice stopgap until DAB+ deals come along.

Before I bought my DAB tuner , costing £100's not £10's , I asked mty dealer the question about DAB+ . I was told that it will all be backwards compatible & not too be taken in by the scaremongers , he is so confident I have a buy back guarantee if it is not true .

You do know that "Backward compatable" means that if you have a DAB+ radio you will be able to receive DAB broadcasts.. not the other way around? Your dealer needs a good slap!! You are not going to get an unbiased opinion from a dealer about to sell you a system worth £100's
#24
Thanks for the welcome.

OFCOM has said there are no plans to turn off FM radio. There will be a review of provision in 2012 but as recently major investors have pulled out of DAB saying there is no future in DAB I suggest there is more chance of DAB being ditched than FM.

Fair enogh point, however the data from this report was 2005, is this still the case?
