Best value around I think but I'm hoping for a big price fall for internet radios in the new year.

Bought one of the Tevion ones from Aldi a while back, £30, so not a bargain for me.

Same here! or maybe even before next year - I'm waiting for the Blik Radiostation to drop to an affordable price unless anyone knows where I can get it now for less than £100?

Me too!!

I haven't heard of the Blik, but Peter Tyson online stock it and they normally carry good items. I was waiting for the Pure Evoke Flow to greatly reduce in price.

Have you any knowledge on what would be the better buy if they were the same price?

your connection is far too good to worry about not being able to get 32k a second maybe 64k a sec stream.

You will be fine

Got this last week - it is my 2nd internet radio and the reason I got it it was for the 10/100 ethernet port which has resolved all the issues with patchy wireless reception in my house. It is well worth the money.

I would like an internet radio very much because our DAB reception is terrible. And we've already got an Intempo DAB radio, solid, attractive & pretty good (when it can get a signal).

The price here is tremendous. But I'm still not particularly enthused. It's a particularly unattractive piece of kit, nicht wahr ? Its main tuning dial is illuminated (how very Aiwa c. 1997), it's got a hole in the front for some kind of plug in device, there's too much silvery fascia, not enough buttons & the main thing which puts me off is that the speaker is on full display with the two manky waxy bits for all to see. The whole thing looks like it's been designed in a hurry & it just looks cheap. Yuck.

Having said all that, it does get OK reviews at £119.99.

Here's a quick review.

Mm. Undecided.

does anyone know if this has a sleep function - i.e. it'll switch off after so many minutes - i like to go to sleep with the radio on!
#15
Okies I've ordered one, nothing ventured nothing gained.

I've had a look at reviews of its sub-£100 competitors & they're all as mixed as the ones for this piece of kit. Voted hot ;-)

Mine came today. Could not get it to work on the wireless out of the box, as soon as I pressed scan for network then the display light would go out after a minute or two of scanning. Pressing the on/ff power button would not do anything and the unit just hang. The LCD display text is still on when it hangs but no backlight So I powered it off at the mains, after a few times I got fed up and decided to connected it via a ethernet cable. After a couple of power off and the mains i got the radio to tune in to the first radio station. Thank God! After playing for a few minutes stably I upgraded the firmware from v257-a-421-a-019 upgraded to v257-a-421-a--057. It re-booted itself. Then I detached the ethernet cable and powered the unit off the mains, waited for 5 mins, switched on and connected successfully to my wireless router. Thereafter it works very well without the problem it had when I first powered it on. I have now used the Logik IR100, Sounbridge, Vistron MX200i, BT Internet Radio. This Intempo GX01, despite the initial hiccup which a firmware upgrade fixed, has easily the best looks and best display. I really dislike manufacturers rolling equipment out with the software/firmware that is unstable.

Has anyone been using this as an alarm clock?, and is it any good as an alarm clock?.

I want something to wake me up in the morning other than the annoying whine from a standard alarm clock, as well as listen to music before I go to sleep.

I've also been looking at...

LOGIK IR100 - £50 (WIFI / Media Streaming)

Revo Blik Wifi - £70 (FM / WIFI / Media Streaming)

I am using IR100 as an alarm clock. However, there are several problems that I had to solve first:
1. Reciva (chipset manufacturer for GX-01, IR100 and a lot of other radios) decided in their infinite wisdom that no one needs more than 1 alarm. So I had to Sharpfin it and install firmware for some other radio instead. Right now I set to to 5 alarms.
2. Sometimes (quite rarely) the radio stuck in "can't find network" mode. In such case, alarm is not working. Quite why networking is affecting alarm is beyond me but here you go.
3. The standard alarm ringtone is annoying (at least to me), so I had to hack the radio in order to change it.

Received mine today - the remote is c**p - anyone got any ideas if there's another out somewhere that i can replace it with?

Mine arrived today. I've got an ordinary BT Total wireless setup, nothing fancy. Our router is in the kitchen, I've placed this radio in the living room (3 rooms away).

Came well packaged, no hassles there. No problems at all, to be honest. Switched it on, it found my wireless box OK, I entered the WEP key and it tuned in itself. Currently listening to CNN Radio & a live speech by B. Obama. The sound quality isn't maybe as good as DAB ... but given that I live out in the sticks & can't receive DAB anyway the sound quality is pretty damn impressive tbh.

I'm quite chuffed with it tbh. Still unconvinced by its looks, right enough, but I've ordered a second one for the kitchen itself. The Amazon deal is still on.

Thanks v much to the OP :-)
