We have two of these and highly delighted with their adaptability and sound.

We can use it outside, and on holiday and the 6 AA batteries it needs do last quite a long time, and re-chargeables can be used.

Good price these were £14 on Zavvi before Xmas.

Does it charge the ipod aswell?

Please don't misunderstand - I'm not knocking what I am sure is a great deal:

I've just bought a Bose SoundDock Series II. It's brilliant.

Great! I've just bought a new car, but whats that got to do with this item.

A £200 soundDock and a portable speaker set costing a tenner are not really comparable

Bought one for my daughter for Christmas at £11.95 fron Zavvi to use with her Sandisk sansa. Perfectly adequate for her needs. Only problem is she doesn't listen to advice and although told you can't dock a non ipod device proceeded to try and do so and has knackered the display; it's now a premanent shade of blue with all other colours fried! otherwise the sansa still works.

Not really. Just thought I'd share my good news.

Yes it does charge the ipod when connected via the mains. There is a plate supplied with it to over the ipod dock so you can stand other mp3 players, just have to connect via a lead which I believe was supplied
