I love gadgets and this seems to be a pretty nifty piece if kit. Check amazon and other similar sites for some user reviews. It has some quirks, but in general gets good write-ups. It seems to be a steal at this price. I've ordered one for myself and one for my sister (that's her birthday present sorted out).

Heat and rep added.

2 left...

I dont think its an ipod dock though, just says that once you have recorded the songs on to the SD card you can then transfer them in the usual way through itunes or am I missing something?

I have ordered for the recording function, it made it sound like it had an ipod connector on the top and the picture at first glance seemed to show one but its the memory card slot.

I will copy music on to PC then into itunes I think, you will have to tag tracks with track names/artists by the sounds of things. Thats where shazam on the iphone comes in very handy if I am not sure of the song details

don't know what it is, but sounded a lot of technology for £15, ordered, thanks

Received my Intempo today - couriered to me.

First impressions are a mixed bag.
The radio was fully boxed and packaged such that it looked brand new.
The item appearance is okay in a shiny black plastic way. Controls are very simple, but effective.
So far so good.

Has a long wire aerial which wherever I put it, seems to get poor reception.
Radio speakers are pretty mediocre, but difficult to judge whether the poor sound is due to poor speakers, or bad reception.
Most annoyingly the transformer supplied interferes cronically with my homeplug network killing my internet access the moment it's plugged in.

With a different transformer and an external aerial (it has a co-ax socket) it could be great. For now I might just pair it with my freeview box, and leave it on for 24 hours to see what happens.

If I'd paid full price it would be going back. However for the money, so long as the popcatcher works it will make a nice toy!

Thanks to iDance for listing, have a little rep from me!

I too got my mine yesterday.

Set it up today, initial thoughts were that it feels cheaply made and was smaller than I thought it would be. The thin wire aerial that comes connected is rubbish as most are. Luckily it comes with a 7.5mm antenna socket. At the moment I have managed to get a good reception using the supplied wire.

I have opted for plugging a 2gb SD card from the start as the instructions state that it will record straight to that if its plugged in from the beginning. I will have a look tomorrow night and see if it has written anything to the memory card and what the quality is like.

Having read review online from when it was released (2008ish), it got quite positive reviews and that was based on the original selling price of £60 - £70. I would be dissapointed if I opened the box having paid £70 but for £15 its a slightly different toy to play with.

Oh and thanks to the OP for posting, I bought when there were 3 left, they had 220 to sell which did in about 90 minutes

Anyone else having any problems in getting the device to capture any music?

I have followed the instructions from the enclosed booklet, and it has been tuned in to radio 1 for over 48 hours, yet nothing happens when i insert my 2gb sd card.

I also noticed when pressing the 'mode' button it just skips from 'time' to 'radio' and back to 'time'. There is no 'mp3' option displayed.
#26
I have just checked mine, having had the SD card in the slot from the beginning.

I pressed the mode button and it displayed MP3 and track 1 of 30 and started playing the first one
I pressed the mode button again to go to time mode and as soon as I had pressed it, the display said "copying" and the red light on top started flickering. It displayed copy 01-08 then 02-08 as it copied until it did 08-08. This confused me as the instructions said it wouldnt copy to the internal memory if a memory card was inserted from the start, and also the playbakc function stated 30 tracks.

I took the memory card out and then pressed mode again and it showed MP3 track one which it played straight away, I could then skip through the tracks on the internal memory, 1 had a bit of the Heart jingle on the front of the track but the others were "clean". You do notice that each track is missing the first couple of seconds but its not really a problem to me as Im not an audiophile!!

When I put the SD Card in my PC it showed a folder called Popcatcher, and in it were 30 MP3s.

So Im a little confused as to why the radio showed 30 tracks but it only seemed to copy 8 to the SD card, so the other 22 must have been directly saved to the memory card.

I then decided to delete the tracks saved on the internal memory (8) by holding down the mode button whilst in playback MP3 mode, the display showed DEL and then a second press of mode button deleted it and then played the next track so I repeated this until all 8 were gone.

When the internal memory is empty I think it shows T - - - - which I think is what the machine displayed as the MP3 mode when I first turned it on as it had no tracks to play.

So fresh out of the box it should show time or radio freq tuned in or T - - - - ( which will then change to T- 01 or whatever once recording has taken place)

Didnt have much time to play with it tonight but have retuned it to radio one, and have left the SD card out this time and am going to leave it for 2 days and see what happens.

Im quite impressed with what it does and for the price, not so sure for the original RRP though

I also need to tag a few of the tracks recorded and upload to itunes so I can play them through my ipod dock to get an idea of the quality although it sounded fine through my laptop, no crackle or hiss etc

darn it, looks like mine is faulty.
Will try the manufacturer tomorrow for a replacement, otherwise it'll have to be a refund from argos.
