I impulse bought the voucher, then I realised that it would be cheaper for me to do something closer to home, if I factor in the transport cost. Time to call them for a refund tomorrow...
I also purchased this online as an e voucher but I don't know how to book a date and time. Are you able to help me?
Phone them on 024 7630 6440
Very misleading experience title. Half of the experience is on the ground not doing anything. I done the same thing for a similar price through buyagift but it was called "land away flying lesson". I wouldn't choose this one purely based on their deceptive marketing but the flight experience is amazing
Not the case here. I did this with a friend we had about a 30 min briefing and then hit the air. Pilot took off and we took control of the plane within 5 mins. Flew plane to runway approach then pilot took over and landed. repeated for second person to fly. So flew for 30-40 mins each.
I did this at Coventry not so long ago. It was a great day! Getting my PPL isn't for me, but it was a good experience.

a VERY expensive hobby getting your PPL, even after you've passed you need to keep up the flying hours, and you can only fly VFR unless you pay MORE money to get a rating that includes instrument flying.
agree, for the base package of 25 hours, £3K upwards....plus an additinal 10-20 hours should do the trick. The guy at work co-owns a plane, so costs him £30 per hour. I can always join a syndicate :D
I have a Private Pilots License. Lets get this out straight away. Flying is expensive. It will never be a hot UK deal lol. The MINIMUM requirement for a PPL is 45 flying hours at approx £140 per hour. It may take many more depending on how often you fly and your skill level. 9 exams all which need study materials buying and fees paying. Your skills test (think driving test) will cost a few hundred quid. You should budget at least £8000. You also need a CAA medical every 5 years, or every 2 years once your over 40. Cost around £150.
After all that the CAA will charge you 200 quid for a bit of paper license. This only allows flight in VFR conditions (you can see the ground, clear of cloud and you have a clear view ahead of you) in the day. For night flight or flight in cloud (IFR) a further rating is required. Which is pretty mandatory with our weather! Though why people would fly in cloud in single engine aircraft in cloud is beyond me. The IFR rating is really only for emergencies. Most clubs will require you to take a 1-2 hour flight with an instructor (£300) if you dont fly for more than 30 days before you can take a plane out on your own or carry passengers again. So you need to maintain your license.
If you want to take it further, multi engine, commercial etc add £1000's to that. To go all the way to commercial airline pilot budget £90000 and dont expect to be guaranteed a job at the end of it :)
Dont even think about buying your own plane unless you are minted.
It truly is an amzing experience and achievement but be aware of what you are getting in to.
Looks like I may have to sell a few shares in that case oO

This has always been the problem, it is VERY expensive (for people of normal means). The only way around it I can see is a fixed wing microlight (minimum 25hrs at similar prices to normal planes, plus better fuel economy) then having some sort of share in a plane, or the strapping things on to you and running/jumping off things! Also moderately cheap in comparison for gliders (about 2k to qualified), with some gliders containing engines.

45 hours needed of flying time to get a full PPL! Bloody hell that's gonna be expensive.
Will these firms be out of business when flying cars become a reality?
Good deal for a one-off present OP, heat.
45 hours minimum. if you are only flying once a week, figure on 50% more, dependent on your abilities and the weather. i took 45 ish but was flying every day on an integrated course. just passed 3000 hours recently :)
Got a ppl myself and yes a great deal indeed-who am i to put anyone off going for a ppl great experience but please remember: If it flies, sails, has wheels or fu??s it will bankrupt you in the end!!!;)

Lifelong dream to be a pilot, couldn't join RAF because of asthma :(
Started lessons at £130 per hour and was made redundant to stopped after 2!
Many years later still wishing, but at the rough price of £8k to pass, plus continual expense I think I'll have to carry on dreaming until I at least own a house! Sigh.. Maybe just get one of those big fans and a parachute, surely you don't need a license for that?! ;)
Pretty cheap to get your parachute licence, then you just pay fuel for the plane. £20 at most if you go with a group, even cheaper with more people.
In comparison it's cheaper but its still not cheap. Around £2,000 for your A license and then several thousand for your rig if you decide to buy, which you would want to.
You can get them secondhand but I wouldn't willy nilly purchase off ebay (I hope you cant!). You can often get one from an airfield or just rent them for pittance.
Yes, you can rent them cheaply, however you'd probably want your own rig if you get into the sport and buying secondhand is still not cheap.
I can just imagine the morning commute along the route of the northern line, wonder if my sky scraper has a landing area though? hmmm

HAHA! It IS possible without license! I'll be the 'Northern Line flyer' this time next year!
