Are these any good? I have a thomson and its fantastic so am looking for another. Does it have a card slot?

I bought one last week through the "Boots" offer for £69.99 :)

Inverto freeview

I am pleased with it, i've never had freeview before so it might not be as good as I think it is, but it is worth it in my book.

Easy to set up and recording's a doddle

Edit: Go through quidco for a further 3.5% On my purchase, this was worth £2.45

Don't forget that you get triple points + 3.5% quidco on this item, bringing overall price down effectively to £67.59.

There might also be a voucher that you can use in conjunction with this...

Use voucher PJDH77 for £10 off. I bought one of these last week and think for the money you can't really go wrong. Easy to use and great quality recordings. The triple points offer this weekend will also give you about 1100 points :)

Oh, I think that I used that code to get it for £69.99.

I think that it would've been better to "Unexpire" the other thread.

Or you could consider this 160GB Ikasu one for £67.93 delivered (with a free MP3 player as well) - http://www.unbeatablegadgets.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=171{3}26

I can confirm that this model definately does NOT have a card slot.

The last time Boots had these on offer they sold out very quickly, so if you are interested, don't leave it too long!

I would be buying one myself if I hadn't just bought one (for the same price) from a Power Seller on Fleabay just three days ago.

If anyone is interested in an unofficial, but very informative alternative User Guide, it can be downloaded from here: http://www.invertoforum.co.uk/manual.htm

Thank you indytim for mentioning the voucher (and, of course, thank you paul97 for the original post). I've been looking for a decent freeview recorder for a few weeks now and this one looked pretty good, so I've ordered it. £69.99 is an excellent price, the delivery is free, I got 959 Advantage Card points and an extra £2.45 off via Quidco. Oh, I do like a good deal!

I posted this deal a while ago when I first got the boots email and used the £10 off voucher to make it £69.99, plus quidco and boots advantage card points.
It arrived quickly and I am pleased with it. Definately no card slot for those people wanting setanta, but for me, it does what I want - you can record one programme whilst watching another, you can pause live television and it's a freeview box.
My one disappointment was with the electronic TV guide as I think it's quite poor, especially as I'm used to an inbuilt one on a top Sony TV which is the best I have ever had the pleasure to use. So I have unplugged the box and will only plug it in when I need it, also saves on the electricity bills.
So if you don't mind an irritating TV guide, the box is an absolute steal, very good price for what you get, 80GB is more than enough and you can change the quality (with SP and LP) which will come in handy.

Although the guide may not be as sophisticated as some, it is not too bad.

For example, the green button toggles between a channel view, and a time of day view, the blue button advances 24 hours, and the yellow one goes back 24 hours... and of course the red one records the highlighted program.

One point to bear in mind though for anyone like 'hdixon85' who decide to only plug the box in when they need it, is that they may well find that the program guide is not up to date, as this is refreshed at about 3 am every morning, and will only do so if the machine is turned on and in 'standby' mode at the time.

Anyone who does purchase one of these is strongly recommended to download a (free) copy of the unofficial User Guide - follow link in my post No. 9 above - which contains a lot more useful information than the one which comes in the box.

NOW £59.99 plus you get an automatic 599 advantage points too. :)

cheap:thumbsup:

If the £10 off voucher code quoted earlier still works, then I reckon this is now a really HOT Deal.

It is going to cost about £100 or so more to purchase a comparable item.

Just ordered one. Price is for free one week delivery - faster options available at a price. I can confirm that the discount code no longer works, as Scratch said. 599 points though!

Good deal. Thanks!

I can't think of a single thing on freeview channels that I'd want to record.

Maybe not, but for for those of us who are still using an analogue TV set, a box such as this provides a good and cheap way to be able to record the mainstream BBC and ITV programmes onto a hard drive, rather than a VHS tape.

Sorry, I'm curious: Why are you looking at this thread then? :whistling:

Now out of stock! I was in the final stages of going through the checkout when it came up with that message. Tried ordering this afternoon but for some reason the process got stuck on the 'Verified with Visa' page - even though my card isn't registered. I'm gutted!!

Hi , can this be used just as a digital recorder to replace my video recorder. I wont have freeview in my area till analogue switches off 2012. I can record sky and analogue channels at the moment on video recorder. Had a look at on line manual but unsure if this will work ok. Thanks

My thoughts exactly, I got rid of my cable t.v. 6 years ago, and my video packed up over a year ago, and having this freeview recorder has been excellent.

I'm a Judge Judy fan, and previously had to go to my grannies house to watch it. :)

It looks as if this one may now have to be marked as being Expired, which is a shame.

I wonder if these were the last of Boot's stock (hence the reduced price to clear out the last few), or whether they will be getting any more.

I rather doubt it somehow, but then again you never know!
