Does this drive still suffer from problems? I am tempted to get one but the issues known seem to put me off.
#2
Cheers, rooban! I bought one last month, updated the firmware, everything is perfect. Gonna order one more, running out of space!

Thanks for posting this :)

Ditto! Thanks for letting everyone know. I thought I had missed the boat with this one. I just pray it works without a hitch!

Presumably the Iomega Website has the fix for the issue with this drive (so I have heard). I'll have a peek and post the link if I find it.

Didn't realise it was that easy - have some rep.

Yes, these drives are dodgy straight out of the box (at least mine was) From what Ive seen Iomega have no comment on it - You need to go to the Seagate (who make the internal drive) pages and search for the issue.

Dunno if Yulita can comment (between watching all his porn :-D ) but it seems like quite an involved process to get the firmware updated. You have to download and burn an ISO cd, then dismantle the drive, connect it to a spare SATA port on your computer then boot to the CD which will update the firmware. Yulita - is this what you had to do?
I dont think its something you'd want to do if you werent confident with computers - who knows

Still a hot deal though

Im doing mine tonight when my new Dell (posted last week) arrives

Yes you can.

Cool, as long as it is just 1x 1tb drive and not 2x500gb drivers, I'm good :-)

Been looking for a large drive to backup movies and music.

Just ordered mine; total came to £39.97 after using some vouchers.

Voted HOT!

Ordered and thanks to the OP. :) Heat added.
Hopefully with a different firmware to the problematic one but will deal with it if not, thanks to all the helpful info and links posted here and in the other thread.
Also thanks for the £5 voucher & quidco.
#35
The USB cable is a bit thin and short. You might want to buy a thick / solid and longer one.
#36
I hope its a different drive or with the most recent firmware.

£39.97, what vouchers would they be then ??!!
#38
I bought one the last time it was posted here from tesco and haven't updated the firmware.

Is there an easy way to do this or do you have to dismantle the drive connect via a SATA port etc etc ? Don't want to start unscrewing the caddy, I'll inevitably break it. Thanks !

:)
#39
Cheers, got mine down to £40.97 with some clubcard e vouchers i stole from the wife :)
