Title says it all. That's a hell of a lot of storage.

Nice... looks like 2x1TB from size though.

Yep, it is:
"This easy-to-use Iomega Desktop external hard drive from Iomega has a total storage capacity of 2 TB (2 x 1 TB), allowing you to store your videos, photos, music and more! "

I don't see a problem with that. On the bright side if you wanted to use it as a mirrored 1TB backup. You'd have the plus of knowing if one drive ever died you wouldn't lose everything.

Nothing wrong with that at all. Raid is a good option. A 2TB drive costs a fortune so if it had been a single drive, this would have been an even better deal! :D

You'd have to be off your rocker to buy a single 2TB drive at the mo. Seriously over priced and lets face it. You aren't gonna to need more than 1TB for a single set of files (unless you're NASA) so multiple 1TB drives are the way to go until the price falls on the 2TB ones.

Well i would say its one super sized great deal. Im a Pro photographer and one sessions of images easily come up to 1GB - 2.4GB in raw format and this is one hell lot of a great deal to backup the work. A++++++++++++++ from me.

i was about to post this when i got the email please mention there ks a £9.40 delivery charge. so its £133.40
a 1tb external drive costs £68 free shipping from ebuyer and amazon. so if you buy 2 1tb drives you only save a few pounds but you will have more space on the desk.

A very good deal for the product but my recent experience with Pixmania has been the worst I have ever encountered and I buy a great deal of products online.

Has taken them 6 weeks and 6 phone calls / emails to even send me an email confirming a refund is being processed for a cancelled order! Their customer service is so very poor.

The deal is a good one, I like the product and the price but if you ever have any trouble with it then you can forget it. I'm never EVER going to buy from Pixmania again and I will advise everyone else not to.........my rant is now officially over and I have booked an appointment for a post-Pixmania counselling session!

Unless your media PC only has one drive bay.. I'm going get a 2TB drive, but will wait for the prices to fall a bit... Still getting by with just 25Gb free on the 1TB...

It's a USB external, so number of drive bays doesn't really matter, unless you are taking it apart and throwing away the enclosure.

Saw a 1TB Iomega in Romford (Roneo corner) Tescos yesterday for £70 if that is a better option.

Ok - deal looks hot but Pixmania are easily one of the worst companies in Europe! Just buy something and see... I wouldn't use them again if you paid me!

But like i said.. still a pretty good deal shame about the company..

Just read some awful reviews of this (off NewEgg and Amazon), saying it's unreliable, loud, and slow.

I think it's one to avoid, especially as it's from Pixmania!!

Hi
Thanks for posting. I have added an image to your post.
This is a link, made by rayman, which explains how to add images in great detail. It’s worth taking a look at if you are going to post more deals in future : - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/339941/how-to-post-and-host-images-for-thr/
Or follow the link in my signature.
Kind regards

Interesting deal. Big shame to have such a large amount of storage external and slowed by USB when you could have these all SATA'd up.

I think the negatives outweigh the positives here. You can go much faster with internal drives, it isn't really a 2TB drive, its going to get hot in there I'm sure with 2 drives so close together in a sealed enclosure, the company doesn't sound great and the price isn't so great once you realise it's not 2TB, but 2x1TB

Took me weeks and the intervention of my credit card company to get a refund on a cancelled order.

I would never buy an Iomega external HD again. Prone to failure and abominable customer service.

I'm voting this up for comment containing the most unusual word award. Abominable!

Pardon my ignorance, but if these are 2x separate physical SATA discs presented as one USB2 interface to the PC how does that work? Do you see 2 separate disks in Windows that you can mirror with Windows? I've never come across a USB caddy with multiple discs on one interface before.

There's actually multiple ways of setting this up and I'm not sure what the default is:

* If you use set it up as mirrored (raid), it would mean the data will be replicated on both HD so you'd only see 1 drive letter (and only have 1TB of space)

* If you want to use set it up as a 2TB drive (format each HD seperately), you are correct and you'll end up with 2 drive letters under windows (each with 1TB space)

* You could set it up as a striped volume (a different raid) which would allow both drives to be merged into a single 2TB volume. That would create just a single drive letter for all 2TB BUT if 1 drive collapses, you are in serious trouble. When a file is saved, chunks of it could be spread over both drives. Losing 1 drive means losing the data.

This is a HOT deal. If anything you can take the two internal 1TB drives out :)

My 2p worth here for a moment for those considering buying this. If you have the need to store 2TB worth of data, and the data is in any way import to you, consider what happens if this device is using the RAID 0 striping technique and one of the 1TB drives fails.

You lose everything, up to 2TB of data.
