The transfer rates on usb 2 hard drives tends to be pretty standard. If you want quicker transfer rates you can get a 2tb Verbatim hd with usb 3 (dont worry if your computer does'nt support usb 3 as the Verbatim hd usually comes with a 2 port usb 3 card for insertion in your pc). The hd can be had on ebay for around £100 with free delivery and the usb 3 card can be fitted by a novice.
Heat added for this deal though as it's great value for money.

I recently got the WNDR3700 Netgear Router. Pretty niffty router, dual band wireless N. People have complained about the speeds and signal levels but mine has been better then expected to be honest. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. It wont actually connect to my PC as it will be on the router which i believe is only USB 2.0

I was reading up about it and its really meant for big back ups of data, should really be used for transfering the odd file here and there.

Just a warning

I recently ordered a Samsung S2 from dabs.com because it was the cheapest price.

Was told it was to be delivered between the 21st and 24th of last month (dec) and i waited just under 3 weeks and still didnt recieve it. The communication was the only positive thing. They also managed to get my email address wrong after i registered so i had difficulty loging in. The emailed me after id enquired to its where abouts (after 3 weeks) and told me that it was likely lost in the mail.

I would avoid Dabs if i were you, even though this is a very good price.

So it was lost in the post over the festive period and you got a full rebate - what more did you want Dabs to do??:p

Ordered the Buffalo 2TB drive from them (prefer Buffalo, never had one die on me) and it arrived within 2-3 days.

Same here. I need an external unit for now which I can later remove the drive from and place in a htpc. Hence, we'd appreciate if anyone who has already got one of these could take a peek inside if it's not too hard open.
Currently looking at this Samsung drive and a cheap enclosure;
