The Comet deal is potentially £2.40 cheaper than the Argos deal, if you go through Topcashback (£53.68).

While a decent price, I've lost all faith in IOMEGA (with 3 ext drives failed) and I've seen many others on here claim the same, their quality and reliability has shot through the ground. I'd avoid even though tempting good price, sometimes it's better to add a few extra quid and get something solid to last you.

Everyone who buys this drive, please please write down the model number from the device manager under disk drives. Then at least we can have some proof or expose some myths the next time there's a hot or cold deal for IOMEGA

I have the 1TB version bought via hotdeals and its a Seagate ST310005 28AS

Similar, but not th same as the model with a high failure rate

see here

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/01/16/barracuda_failure_plague/

"Update
Following these complaints, the company has issued a statement saying it has isolated a firmware issue that may be causing the problem, and it has offered customers a free firmware upgrade. The issue causes data lose, the company will also provide free data recovery services."

I want a new 1tb or bigger drive and this is by far the best that ive seen on Hotukdeals. Shame its so plain. The other one that keeps popping up is the Hitachi Deskstar thats just ugly.
Very good price. Heat added.

I want the samsung story station to go down, thats by far the prettiest

I've got one I bought it for £55.09 earlier in the week, very happy with it, bought it as Hitachi at Tesco drive went up to £65 (in my local).

My drive shows as a Seagate ST310005 28AS :-)

I bought an Iomega 1TB drive about 20 months ago (it was a Seagate drive inside) which recently packed up thanks to my 3year old pulling it off the shelf and hitting the floor (about 18 inches)
This was covered by Iomega's warranty much to my surprise, and they replaced it with a new one! No hassle whatsoever.

There's a 1TB Iomega Prestige here:

for £49.99, but it's an opening offer, and it looks as though you have to visit the store.

Can anyone that tries this let me know if voucher code SPRING works for 10% off please!

Been through a number of Iomega Ext HDD's over the last couple of years. No matter what they produce, it always seems to be crap with a high failure rate.
Out of all Ext HDD manufacturers, Iomega are the only one I would 100% avoid.

Had one of these drives for a few years now, not a glitch so far :whistling:

I bought the same Iomega drive a couple of months ago for £54.99 from Curry's. Not had any problems with it, reasonably small and quiet - wouldn't win any style awards but it's not ugly, just plain.

I have been using one (1tb seagate Iomega with new firmware preinstalled) for 9 months now (Tesco Deal). Its been used daily and has been nothing but easy to use, quiet and most importantly never failed.

Not saying that people haven't had trouble with older models but lets not use sweeping generalisations peeps.

I would defo buy another one when this one is totally full....Still got 80gb left!!
#15
Not sure what drives are in them but I have three Iomega's; a 750GB which is over four years old as well as a 250GB and a 2TB drive, both of which are over three years old. Never had an issue with any of them. If Iomega's currently have a high failure rate, as some posters seem to be indicating, then either I'm just lucky or reliability has indeed fallen.

If you mean is it a 2.5" portable USB powered drive, then no. Moreover, 2.5" drives are currently made with a maximum capacity of 1TB.

I'm always impressed by 1TB external HDD's. The last HDD I bought was a 250GB internal HDD for 80 bucks =_=. Still haven't filled it up, though.

Good deal!
