No, it's a USB 2.0

Welcome to HUKD hnoleypockets

As LongDongDave says, its a USB drive.
#7
Ok thanks for the response. Does anyone know of a good deal on a networkable hard drive?

Just bought myself one, Thanks for pointing this out, been an ongoing purchase over the last month, with deals appearing and disappearing on hotukdeals, but that one is great. Voted HOT

can you like download stuff from internet straight onto this drive, and then burn from drive to a dvd with nero, i mean will it like burn dvds at say 8x or 16x, will usb2 keep up with that ? thx
#10
i've got a drive just like this one but the 250gb version and i download stuff straight to it all the time. i burn cd's from data stored on it at 48x, but as for dvd's i should say it's the same but i can't honestly say as i don't often burn dvd's.

Matt

i think amazon have c***ed up the prices because if you look at the 250gb description it details the 320gb hard drive and vice versa for this one.

yeh your right so wonder if i ordered 320gig version i would not get the 250gig instead ?
#14
yeh when i plug it in it recognises it and assigns it a drive letter, mine always shows the drive as E:. oh yeh and just a random note, if this is for your bedroom, like mine was. there is a incredibly bright l.e.d. on the front, which kinda lights up the room. doesn't bother me though, just thought it was worth mentioning.
#15
well you should recieve the 320gb one because i just checked the model number on the one titled 320gb with the 250gb description and it refers to the 320gb, gotta be worth a punt surely
#16
thx, i like neon lights in dark room :)

lol, this is for you then
#18
is this mac compatible i cant seem to find out, its ok ive found out it is!! its actually £68 at iomega
#19
can anyone comment on the reliablility of iomega drives. I was tempted by the previous western digital drive I saw on HUKDs but the reviews scared me away!
#20
how about this seagate hard drive 320gb for £42?

I have been looking for some external storage and i have a firewire port on my pc which is apparently 2-4 times faster than usb 2.0

I think that the HDD I linked to has sata and usb 2.0 connections, so if you have a sata port that would make data transfer and such as fast as your internal hard drive.

Anyone know if the deal you listed works with vista 32 bit?
#21
I have done my order already.
The only thing that I don't like is the "value" thing on the description title: "Iomega Desktop Hard Drive USB 2.0 320 GB - Value Series" I hope it won't affect the quality & durability of the product.
#22
i have just ordered the one above at £42. Im not missing anything am I? this is a 320gb external hard drive right?
#23
Never heard of ThermalTake website mickygray316 or their external hard drive, so can't comment on it sorry.
#24
mmm ok I was just wondering if Ive ordered something different other than an external hard drive
#25
But with a Seagate drive inside it, it should be okay and a good find for £42 too :)
#26
well it now appears to have dissapeared from the website. looks to me like the wrong description
#27
Aren't those just external HDD cases or do they have a drive installed?
#28
I think that's the problem, they're just cases for drives, but I could be wrong.
#29
ray,

Thermaltake is well-known and respected manufacturer of computer cases and enclosures. Just like CoolerMaster.
To the best of my knowledge, they don't do external hard drives, just the enclosures.

Resident,

It sounds like that store is mixing things up and got not a clue what they are selling. It is out of stock anyway.
#30
im not sure, initally it had a 320gb external hard drive description. now its been changed, think ill email them
#31
The drive in the original post is or should be good. Iomega are a well known and trusted brand, if I didn't already have an external drive, I would have gone for this one.

Thanks :) The name didn't click for hard drives, but now you've jogged my memory, it has for cases lol

Cool, thanks OP, :) ordered one late evening on 13th March (after seeing this post) using the free super saver delivery option and its arrived today, quicker than expected.

Pluged it all in, came preformatted with FAT32 so just had to reformat it to NTFS and its ready to go... It seems pretty quiet, or atleast, i can't hear it above the noise my PC fans make anyway.

From the properties page of this drive it's listed as a ST3320820A, which is a Seagate Barracuda drive, so good result IMO.

BTW, i notice Dabs is now also selling this drive at the same price (but excluding postage at an additional £6) so this is still a good deal at Amazon.

Regards :)
