Picked one of these up today. They have been slightly cheaper recently - but as I had signed up to the Comet Perks (will post link below for this) I got £5 off which you get when you spend £50 in-store after signing up, bringing it down to £43.99 which is the cheapest i've seen this for. So you can either ask nice sales person to over-look the £1.01 difference or buy something for the difference.
Sales person informed me that the extra 2.5 VAT increase hasn't yet gone on these items, however if you join the 'Perks' scheme you get 2.5% off any items which have already had the increase if you buy before 31st Jan 2011.

These were £44.99 a few days ago without any discount vouchers.

Yes, thats why I said in my post 'They have been slightly cheaper recently'
But the point is, they arent that price any more. There is no Discount Voucher needed, you just need to sign-up and tell them in-store that you have. Simples ;)

Either way - if someone here is able to take the simple steps to sign up and get £5 off in-store to get this for the cheaper price (which is cheaper than the £44.99 it was a few days ago) then i'll be happy it helped them out :)

Don't get me wrong here. But if the hardrive is £48.99 and you have to spend £50 to get £5 off dose it not mean u have to buy something else and the £5 comes off the total bill. So in reality the hardrive is stii £48.99.

As I said above, it would be worth asking the person on checkout if they would over-look the £1.01.
If not then you'd need to buy something for £1.01 (i''m sure there would be something) in which case you get it all for £45 > £50 - £5 = £45.
But as I say, it's worth asking as they control what happens on the screen at the till....
