Nice find, good price. How come they don't mention if Windows Vista, or XP and above?

@knightsimon -

How many drives do you have, and do they work on xp and vista?

:whistling: ;-) :whistling: :-D :p

Cool! I could really do with this, unfortunately this is an expensive month due to other commitments.

Great find though.

Could someone explain to me what exactly 'Hot Swappable' means in the context of an External Hard Drive?

Thanks in advance.
#10
I think it means you can take the USB out of one comp and put it into another without shutting it down or rebooting it.
#12
I think you can save another £10 by using Google Checkout on this?

Oops. Maybe not :(

You could in the good old days of Google Checkout's infancy.

I bought one of these a while ago for £105 or there on. As has been said, it works well with XP & Vista, but before you fill it up, I'd recommend formatting it to NTFS if possible. Gets a bit more space out of the thing. I could do with another to be honest, but am trying to resist as I also want a posh flat telly!

Besides, the rate the prices SEEM to be dropping I'll get one for a tenner in a few months:whistling:

And lastly.... before anyone asks, the drive inside mine is a Seagate. Whether that's still the case or not I can't say!

Oh... Ebuyer... I'd advise to try and find it somewhere else 1st.

For this reason alone I can't give it a hot vote. I've had far too many bad experiances with this bunch in the past.

Actually this iQon is better because its next day home delivery and E-SATA PCI what ever that is?

Trust me this drive is great. It looks great and looks even better when you have more than one stacked on each other. Its made from a quality metal case and feels quality. My friend has a western digital 500gb and he regrets not getting the iomega 500gb. 10/10 from me for this product

E-SATA or Exterenal Serial ATA... An alternative to USB. If you use ESATA then you'll need a port on your computer wich is where the PCI bit comes in.

I bought the iQon HDD.
Suggest you do a search on this site for iQon.
It's faster than USB2 if you have on board SATA connectivity. Supplied "pci" kit is actually a lead from on board SATA plug to rear of casing giving an external SATA (eSATA) socket. Mine runs 2x or better the speed of USB2.

Just took my Iqon hard drive back to Tesco, was a lump on it like they had put the case on it and a part was sticking out. also id kept giving me "USB Device Not Recognized"
#25
Since external hard drive's are just internal hard drive fitted in a casing with a usb cable. Can you take them apart and just make it into an internal Hard Drive? I read somewhere that internal hard drive are SATA II and 7200rpm so it should be as good as a normal internal hard drive.

It's 8MB Caches the other 500MB disks on here are 16MB
