Info copied from the Tesco's site where it retails for 139.97, supplied USB cable is double ended which would imply the Tesco info is wrong in that it requires two USB ports to function correctly.

Not realy It would function just fine with just one usb connection connected to single usb port but some times when you use usb hub you may need extra power which is true for any usb powered device not just this one. aprt from that good deal heat added!

Max current for a single USB port is 500ma while a lot of drives require upto 1A - had one someone gave me the other week that only had a single usb connector cable and throughput was abysmal (3 meg a second). Connected the correct cable (a two pronged one) and it went to 16 Meg. Strangely enough the person who's drive it was had been complaining about the speed of it and how it kept erroring....

I paid 67.99 as I went into PC World and price matched them with Staples - this gave me an extra 2.00 off - reason for the headline price is that you can't rely on pricematching (especially with PC World, Comet etc.)

Was suprised at the number of cold votes at the start - think it got to -20 at one point.

The Western Digital also needs a plug. I like just slotting the hard drive into my laptop.

If I was going for size and looks, I would go for the Samsung S2 series, very nice but pricey.

However, if this is anything like the 3.5" that I have, it will probably have a Samsung drive inside it.

At the time of buying the 3.5" desktop version it was the best looking design and contained a Samsung drive so a no brainer.

Nice looking drive, a mini version of the 3.5" case but a bit bigger than the newer 2.5" drives now .

whats the difference?

Prestige comes in the aluminium case and is a much more solid construction. Select is the plastic cased version.
