Found these instore at Tesco Extra Prescot (Merseyside) today. Currently £54.97 online at Tesco Direct.

Plus, if you have the weekly Clubcard vouchers (currently on Week 2), there is another £2 off making it £33.89

Curiously the 250Gb version of this was on the same shelf at £69.99, and the 500Gb at £119.97!

Had about 5 in stock (minus the one I bought!) at lunchtime today.

They've had this reduced to £49 before and I bought 3! That was a few months ago, and I didn't think i'd see it cheaper this quickly.

Heat added!

Excellent! This is kinda weird cuz I mentioned a 320gb HD earlier in an 250gb HD post.
#4
Do you think i could just thke the hard drive and swap it with the one i have in my netbook?
#5
does any one know whether u can rip this one out and put it in PS3 slim?

Should be fine as long as the connector is the same, i.e SATA

Yep you can
#8
does this need a separate power pack or is it powered by usb?
#9
Just to point out that if you are swapping one of these for the drive in your system - they are incompatible with the current MacBook/MacBook Pro line-up, or any other ones with NVidia 9400 chips. They may work with older macs, but incompatible shock protection tech can cause 30 second pauses in Mac OS X. If they are like the ones I got several months ago, they are Seagate Momentus 5400rpm disks inside. Of course, they still work fine as external USB drives.

Also, one of the ones I got had the screw driven into the side of the drive - it had missed the screw hole! Still worked though...

Great deal, will keep an eye out. Have u got a Product Number?

As it is a USB powered laptop drive in this case, No.:)

I guess that is what makes this offer so attractive is that it's a portable drive, not an external drive.

Heat.

External 2.5" drives are powered through USB, hence not just portable but also mobile (you can use them on the go).
Brilliant deal, shame my local Tesco don't sell electronics.

[edit] @Smithers37: you beat me to it!

Great deal.

Is it nationwide?
#14
Nice price, I bought one a few months ago from tesco I think it was around the £50 ten. Great for putting your back-up's of Wii games onto as the controller card is fine for the Wii.

Yes, working fine with my Samsung Netbook AND (particularly pleased:)) my Archos 605 with Battery Dock which won't usually power an external HDD by USB alone

No, this is an external HD.

If you want to swap for the one in your netbook you must have an identical internal SATA netbook HD, which im afraid is going to cost a lot more than this to buy.
#21
cheers grabbed one, it was priced at £89.xx but scanned at £35.89
#22
brilliant deal, well spotted. I'll get my mother in law to get me a couple with 10% staff discount = £32.30 each!
#23
Don't forget to register the product at www.iomega.com for a free warranty extension to 3 years, free download of EMC Retrospect Express backup software and free 2Gb of on-line storage!
#24
Out of stock in Hatfield store.

I was looking at these last night in my Tesco, but they weren't labelled up at this price. Will have a go though to see if they go through at £35.89 anyway.

Only thing interesting I did see, was a 1TB seagate 3.5" external drive, for £45, which seemed like a half decent offer.
#26
Great find,

Just picked up 2 from Coventry tesco by the football ground, still had 5 left & still priced £89 on the shelf

You can just take a hard drive out of the original case and put into your laptop as long as you have the same connection (SATA). Screwdriver, few minutes and job done. No point of spending extra 20 quid to get OEM drive
#28
Priced at 85 quid scans at 35.80 .It has 2 yr warranty std and works on Mac book Pro.
Used as external drive but no reason why it shouldn't work internally as SATA 2.5 seagate momentus drive inside. Will test but using as time machine now.

Plenty of stock about as priced high. If the change stickers it will fly out.
#29
I have one boxed as new never used for £40 - pick up from Stevenage Hertfordshire (or can deliver to Hatfield on Thursday night!!!)
#30
right i'm off to get one now then from seacroft tesco
i'll let you know when i get back if they've got any

Is yours MBP as mine is and not sure if it work due to earlier post about not workin

anyway now have 3yr warranty from iomega ...register serial online...don't need software as time machine is cool for backups.
#33
Hot! Very useful if you want to small external drive or want to replace a laptop drive. Be aware that these are sata drives
#34
Should make a great paperweight when it breaks down, like most of Iomega's shoddy rubbish.

Bought the same model from the same store about 6 months ago - was £44.89 then or soe such. Weird that they have put the price up in the meantime and then brought it back down (with a bang!)

Nice little drive and red hot for the price. Will sell out fairly quick I think. Get some half price sirlion steak whilst you are there...
#36
Many thanks, just picked up two in Northampton. Price on the shelf was £85 but when scanned through the till I got two for £71 - bargain.

I can backup all my photo's and back up my back up photo's!
