Are you sure it was this one? Or did you have the Iomega Prestige, which has a different drive inside.

Yeah sorry, it was the prestige.

I would just avoid this brand now altogether to be honest.

you have to love comets technical knowledge when they list these products!

Portable = Yes

Yes its portable but in external hard drive terms portable means USB powered which this isnt.

Something I have learned the hard way: Fact is that any hard drive can fail no matter which make you use. This is why you should always have a backup of whatever you do. It is better to have two 500gb hard drives with the same files on than have one 1tg hard drive with just one copy of your files. Best is to make DVDs for important files as well.

1Tb is an awful lot of DVDs.

Large capacity drives are so cheap now I would have thought that those who have important data should only ever buy two, one of them being to back up the back up to, which is then kept off site.

Mine has the Samsung HD in its and its fine, quietest external drive I have ever owned, and I have 8

Wouldn't the 'prestige' come avove 'select' in a range? Would have thought the presige was theoretically better. I still think the £59 Seagate in Tesco stores is a better deal.

Personally I'd take the 1tg :p

Latest versions of this have Seagate drives. Bought one last Saturday and took it back yesterday due to the loud clicking noise that started after two days.

Google "seagate clicking" and check it out...not good!

im ok then i have about 9tb of storage.....you are best to get a nas drive (or build one yourself)....dont forget off site backup too.....currently my offsite is manual as online would be very expensive as i have about 1tb of data (with about 5 copies onsite/offsite)
