    It's a shame this wasn't a week ago. I was stuck in the midlands for seven hours waiting for a train, so I'd have happily taken you through all the basics and gotten you started, if only to pass the time. Best course of action, then? If you don't already own a guitar, buy one second-hand (feel free to drop me a PM if you want some guidance on this, or links to a couple that I have listed on Gumtree right now), and from there, it's just a matter of searching google or youtube for video lessons or textual tabs. You're going to find it really difficult to begin with, but don't let the first week or struggle put you off.
