The U Record USB music archive system lets you easily convert your favourite records and tapes to MP3 format using your turntable, tape player or other audio device to your computer. Simply connect U Record to your PC or laptop with the included USB cable and the rest is easy. Use the included software to record and archive your music, then transfer it to your iPod or other personal media player. U Record features standard RCA inputs for quick connection of tape decks, CD or MP3 players. A built-in preamp takes the guesswork out of recording from a turntable by eliminating the need to attach the turntable to a stereo system for recording.

Jump to unread Post a CommentCan you buy me 1 of each [multi-drive + u-record] and post it to me (London) - I'll can pay via PayPal (£25.00 + P&P).
My local Tesco stores are full of no-hopers who wouldn't know what a external DVD drive or USB music converter are - (I mean the staff)...
PM me if you can. Thanks. - Are we allowed to ask like this on HUKD?

Now it has a preamp built in so that is useful for record decks but otherwise it seems unnecesscary as a tape deck or amp can plug directly into your PC's line input (if it has one)
I suspect the supplied software is like all Ion products, the freely available and very useful Audacity. For those that already have a tape deck I don't see the need for this, for those with a record deck then this pre-amp makes sense.
