Just seen this available in Makro (you will need a Makro card to get in) at £249.99 + VAT which sounds good for a brand new v1 iPad.

People think this is going to be the best option before I go and buy?

Also will prices go cheaper on the release of the Ipad2>?

For some reason the 'Go To Deal' URL isn't working so here's a direct link http://www.makro.co.uk/servlet/PB/menu/1183394_l2/index.html

yep equals best price so far

However it seems like most of the large retailers still have plenty in stock (~ £329.00) therefore imo prices will fall further in the next few weeks, my guess ~ £250.00 / £275.00

I bought one on contract today, been rethinking given the fact it's 2 years tho.
32gb, 3G @ £49 initial layout plus contract.

They gave me the wrong one. They misread the writing on the wrapper that said 32 3G wifi for 32gb wifi. Not my fault they are unable to read!

24 x £25 + £49 = £649

How much data are you getting for that? Are you actually ever going to use the allocation or will you just be paying it for the sake of having an iPad
#16
Shouldn't the heading state the price as £359.99?

Don't forget that doing business is more expensive in the UK, not to mention the 20% VAT the government lops on top of the price of the product.

I think I'd make good use of it as an entertainment tool. But would be using it mostly on Wi-Fi I should imagine....that's why I'm rethinking already.

COLD COLD this is a deal site for the masses and this is not a deal for the masses. Unless you have a Makro close by and also have a card, which are suppose to be for the trade you cant get in so the small minority will benefit from such a deal no everyone else.

You have been well and truly robbed as you wont use no where near the data your paying for and you have been way over charged the worst part is you have signed up for a 2year contract and if you would of waited 2 weeks you would of got a brand new ipad2 not the 1st gen one you've been sold. I bet the staff where smiling as you left the store, if i where you and you purchased online change your mind and return it.

iPad2 will also have a higher initial cost - not really comparative. This kind of post would be comparative. Initial cost+ongoing cost.
But yes, two years is a deal breaker me thinks. And it was online.

I recommend calling ahead 0844 445 7445 and quote art number 359894, not all stores have a lot of stock of these!
#26
Isn't this the going rate at the moment? I bought mine from Comet at a couple of pounds dearer (granted with Quidco!). Anyway, good price!
#27
289 on Apple UK refurb Store.

Ipad 1 16gb is only HK$2988 (£235) at the Hong Kong online Applestore so I'll probably get one when I return to HK this summer.

Yes, I hope so. For me, it will be effectively free thanks to the HK governments generous HK$6000 handout (announced in the March Budget) to all 3 star Permanent ID card holders.

What a load of crap! I have a Makro card, like many others that use this site and I certainly like having deals like this brought to my attention. If it doesnt apply to you, dont vote and stay well away!

Nice price, heat added

Most people either can get a card or know someone who does. More accessable than a store in hong kong for sure

The iPad 2 also has a metal (aluminum) back, and although it is 33% thinner Apple wouldn't have made this change if it had an impact on the build quality. Not going to argue with the chunky point but just thought I'd point this out.

Also will prices go cheaper on the release of the Ipad2>?

Unlikely.

Apple have dropped the price from £399 to £329 to clear V1 stock. If past history is to go on V1 stock will be pulled from stores when V2 is released ranther than let it be discounted more to clear stocks.

Reduced to clear does not make it the premium brand Apple places it self at.

Still £330 for even just the 32GB with just Wi-Fi is a very good price. I just paid £380
