Don't they sell mainly 'Seconds' and 'Returned' goods?

No, they mainly sell last seasons stocks of clothing and goods at heavy discounts on RRP, not returned or seconds.
Nothing second hand or used in TK Maxx some will probably be returns but in as new condition, as mentioned above it is mostly last seasons clothes or products that other companies have over stocked on so TK Maxx buy them off the companies cheap and sell them on for a profit.
Similar to what Poundland do but for higher value goods.

Beg to differ, as some of there suppliers are catolgue returns, not saying the Ipads are but there is still more chance of you winning the lottery then finding one of these.
There were two member of staff supervising so they may have others and be staggering their release.
Prob worth a phone call if you are interested.

OP has already stated that they are in Castle Vale, Birmingham, that is not a lottery, one store in the UK has them, anyone that is interested is obviously welcome to ring their local.
I have seen plenty of electronics in TK Maxx that are sealed box.
No offence to the OP, but I could state I saw and xbox for a fiver in Sainsbury's but more then likely it was a miss price of a figment of my imagination. Sorry to be so negative about these things, but this has happened time and time again. No one else finds the deal or the deal was store specific, or the deal was miss read.
If you want crappy, try out the iPood
