I recently obtained a few iPad 2's from Dixons Travel at Newcastle Airport, sold a few on eBay and only yesterday saw the cash price that CEX are buying iPad 2's for! At least £50 more than the RRP!

I took the 16GB White iPad I bought for £387 in to the store, Grade A as it was sealed and walked out after testing with £450 in cash.

I've check stock levels are Comet have both the White 16GB and Black 32GB in stock for online delivery!

You can pay £12 for next day delivery if you order by 2pm. So that would mean your profit is £38. Monday delivery is £6 or Tuesday Delivery is FREE.

I don't know how this will go down, but it's easy money!

EDIT:

Comet have the Black 32GB iPad in stock as well for £479, CEX will give you £530 cash for this.

If I had the money to bulk buy iPads, I'd probably wipe my **** with £50.

Also, odds are most Cex's won't have that amount of cash to spare anyway.

Well spotted , I do this regular with DVDs, get to watch a film and then make a pound or two profit.

Cex near me always has a decent amount of cash to buy items.

Also, pretty sure you wouldn't be wiping your ass with £50 notes if you could afford to bulk buy iPads, I managed to buy a few and certainly don't use £50 notes to wipe my ass, I use Andrex.

But quick money off course. I would avoid such high risk. Because if CeX decline you are screwed.

As Mr Ashcroft said correctly they wont have that much money to spare.

i guess this is not for everyone ... but good spot OP ... plus with the shortage of certain models you'll probably get near the asking price for ipad2s atm.

I can think of better ways to spend my weekend than queuing in CEX stores to get told to come back in 2 hours as they have a cashflow situation.

If anyones got the patience to grab 50quid then fair dos.

Don't see how it's high risk.......you take it to Cex, you ask them if they have the cash. If not you use the Returns Policy with Coment for a full refund.

I was speaking to the Manager of my local Cex yesterday (all the staff got very excited about the fact they had an iPad 2 in the store and during testing they all wanted a go) and he said if the item is a High End item or a Most Wanted item, they 'will' have the money available as they have spare money in the safe. The majority of the time, they say they dont have enough money if its an item they have lots of such as iPhones ect.......

Your store is nice mate. Whenever I take in a item for cash, they usually say no, then I see someone with 5 to 9 copies with the same game and they are happy to purchase. I think my store is only interested in bulk purchase lol.

Anyway credit to you for doing this. I wish you the best of luck. I kinda see why they giving such a high price because this item is scare everywhere.

For all the people moaning about instore, why not just do it online.
#11
Or, here's an idea. Just buy the iPad 2 and keep it for personal use rather than trying to make money on it due to its high demand. Radical thinking, I know !
#12
As if these weren't hard enough to find. Thanks.

I think it depends on if the store is a franchise or not. The franchise stores tend to wing it a bit on if they will part with cash. If you go early enough and they don't have any cash for your item, ask when they will have some and if you are lucky enough to speak to a human you'll probably be told the best time to head back after they have been to the bank, you may be lucky enough to get called back!

you should have left that first line out, it was always gonna go cold with that. people don't appreciate people that take advantage of a situation (mis-price, high demand, etc) purely to make a profit, it's not really what this site is about.

There's probably three types of people voting this cold.

1. People that vote anything cold with 'Apple' in the title.
2. People that think that doing this type of thing is exploitative and a bit immoral.
3. People that will think that it's too much effort and risk versus the potential gain.

I'm in the second of those 3 groups.

Just contacted Cex and told them to lower the price they give for Ipad 2's
#19
Went to CEX to sell a two games that came to a total of £14 and they never had any money, so how on earth will they be willing to dish out £450 is beyond me.

Haven't been ablel to get cash from cex for the past one year, waste of time.

Also iPad stocks are very limited, people that want them won't be selling them. ;)

don't CEX and associated trade in prgrams, like Argos etc, pass your details on to HMRC especially those that are trading in bulk or regular new items?

As for the risk worth while but I wouldn't count on comet actually having to honour their returns policy especially if you have purchased several of the same item, as at the end of the day they are not entirely obligated to doing so, especially with certain items
#21
Comet doesnt have stock - there website is wrong. Ring them.

I know from clause 3 of the Argos scheme it states

It is a legal requirement if you trade in any game that we record your name and address. The information we are collecting from you is solely for HMRC purposes and we will not be using the information for any marketing purposes.

So would expect regular traders of new items with CEx to be hit the same. Just like Paypal informs HMRC of high value accounts it has

Not really fussed if people think it's immoral ect... I'm afraid if companies offer this sort of thing where an easy profit is there to be made, people will do it!

If people want the item that much, they'll make the effiort to get them. So this 'high' deman, stock shortage, feeling sorry for people who actually want the item and cant get doesn't work.

If people can make money, quick and easy people will do it.

With people complaining about the Cex is their town, gutted. Can't praise my store enough! I took my Nintendo 3DS I got from IWOOT for £167.99 and got £200 cash from them! Easy money!

Also, they must have a fair bit of cash at my local Cex as the manager was telling me about how a guy came in a couple weeks ago with 16 copies of Motorstorm Apocolypse, all boxed, missing instruction manuals and 2 weeks before the game was released. They bought all 16 off of the guy for £33 a copy. Crazy.

Its not a bad idea, and nothing wrong with it given we live in a capitalist country. But who has the time to do this when you're working? If you are doing this to make money while NOT working and claiming benefits, then you should be shot. Literally.

I work, I was lucky more than anything to get the iPad 2s being in an airport at around 5pm flying home from a business trip!

Also, Cex are open weekends.

Went into my local pc world and said I was waiting for the iPad 2 that I had ordered from comet ( they did have the non wifi ones in stock online ) got offered the iPad 1 wifi 3g 32gb and applecare protection for two years and a nice leather case for £499.00. They told me they are offering good deals on all ipad1. I took the deal, personally had a play with both models and apart from the camera could not tell much difference.

Middlesbrough cex pay grade C prices for brand new iPads.

Crazy they do this.

Shame they give me price of a grade C 3G model by mistake. I win.
