iPhone 3G 8 Gb free on £29.38 plan @ O2 !!!

I was planning to get a contract mobile and spoke to o2. They are offering iPhone 3g 8 GB on £29.38 plan for free. (Previously was £96.89). Also 16 GB is free on plan £34.26. (Previously £155.61).

The guy who spoke on the phone sounded very helpful. To get this offer, you should quote the coupon "APRSPECIAL" and insist that you are new to o2. I was fortunate to get this deal even without the coupon. Just bought a 16 Gb version.

Note, this is not refurbished phone. I got it double confirmed. Looks like they are clearing off the stocks for a newer model perhaps.

what the deal 18m or 12?

It says 24 months on the poster in the carphonewarehouse's window
#8
18 months contract. All minutes and texts same as here. http://o2.co.uk/iphone/paymonthly#tab-panel0_tab1
#9
Length of contract is 18 months. But for the £29.38 a month you only get 75 mins and 125 texts.

Not particularly impressive.

Thee £34.26 one gets yoou 600 mins and 500 texts. Usually asks £155.61 for the 16gb phone on that deal, so that's more worthwhile if you are really desperate for an iphone.

Details direct from o2 (before the discount on phone cost) here:

Isn't the new iPhone out in the summer???

No doubt there will be loads of deals about soon - good deal at the mo though !!!
#11
The £34.26 tariff says "Unlimited data and Wi-Fi (worth £15 a month)".....does this mean I will be able to hook it up to my laptop and use it for mobile broadband?

24 months is ridiculous - rated cold unfortunately.

I have an iphone and love it - I thought 18months was steep!

Who is this confirmed by?

Carphone Warehouse website states the following:

£35 a month (24 months)
600 mins 500 texts
8GB - Free

or

£45 a month (24 months)

8GB - Free
16GB - Black Free
16GB - White Free

The 18 month contracts are even more expensive!

lol 24 month contracts. No thanks.

02 were kind enough to text me earlier today to tell me that as I was a silver member of some nature I was entitled to sign a new contract before my old one expires next month ! how generous !

Yer i would also like to know if this is really true. Also, does your contract automatically renew wen u get an upgrade beacuse i pay £45p/m which i think is too much as i never use up my allowance
#23
This is already been confirmed by Apple, O2 and CPW that their prices are dopping but are on 24 month contracts.

There is NO NEW IPHONE COMING this year only OS 3.0 coming in the summer, Only a few rumors that a new iphone is coming because some leaked LG information (Makers of iphone screens)showing OLED screens. (where has all this nonsense about a new model come from)

Yes you get a lot for £10 but you have a crap phone, unless you buy an iphone for £350, in which case there is no difference, you can't compare a £10 sim only non-contract to a full blown top of the range phone on contract.

And no, whoever asked, you cannot teather your iphone and laptop unless for internet unless you jailbreak it and pay $29 for PDANet but works great when you do.

No you can't hook it up to your laptop as a modem. I think they're allowing that with the 3.0 software upgrade but that's not coming until September.

Details here:
http://dnc.o2.co.uk/home/2009/03/o2-iphone-24-month-tariff.html
Also:
"After 9 months, you may only move down one tariff, per month, to the next lower priced tariff".
See: Airtime Contract
5.16 If you are a Consumer Customer who has selected a tariff with a Minimum Period, you may not move to a tariff which offers a lower rate monthly subscription for the first 9 months of your Minimum Period. After 9 months, you may only move down one tariff, per month, to the next lower priced tariff unless you pay us the difference between the monthly subscription on your original tariff and the lower rate tariff we agree that you may move to. Where you have notified us you wish to move to the next lower tariff, unless we advise otherwise, your new tariff will commence at the start of your next billing cycle.

Wildly over-priced contract which is only justified because it comes with a wildly over-priced fashion accessory.

Someones maths is a bit off...

£29.38 x 24 = £705.12
£350 + (£10 x 24) = £590

Easily saving £115, plus if you could only have the contract for 12 months instead of 9 saving an additional £120.

I guess the new Iphone is coming out so trying shift present ones till news breaks.

Not at the moment. Data tethering (wot u said) is apparently in the iphone 3.0 software build but whether it gets enabled or not is between apple and the carriers to sort out. Here's hoping...
#34
Also what some people fail to realise is that the warranty for the phone is with Apple and is ojnly for 12 months. This means anyone with a 24 month contract and their phone breaks on month 13 will continue paying a tarriff with no phone:p
#35
I gave 02 a Call they have never heard about the coupon above that you provided :S, Where did you get this information from? He callled his manager down aswell to verify it over the phone to 02 and he also said they never heard of it. 18 Month contract it was aswell but not a free iphone.

+1

all the rumour sites and informed analysts would suggest otherwise, that's why operators are trying to clear current stocks.
