Length of contract !!!!!!!!!! Price in deal doesn't include phone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#2
24 months I'm guessing?
#3
Yeah, it's 24 months, so total cost is £819 / £909 over the two years.
#4
yes 24 month contracts, if you select the plans it tells you 24 months.
#5
lol 24 month they wanted to give me the iphone 3gs for 3 years for no cost! no thanks. Ended up with a retention deal on htc desire 900 mins, 3000txt 5000 3 "2" 3, unlimited internet for £23 for 24 months. Loving the HTC desire. and waiting patiently for the 2.2 upgrade(official) just around the corher

EDIT THE POST To reflect the overall price!
EDIT THE POST To reflect the overall price!
...I'm protesting.

Pet hate of mine when on any website advertises a phone tarrif without telling you what the overall cost is divided by the length of the contract.
#8
If you don't mind a 24month contract then yes, but the tesco on a 12 month is definately better.
#9
the one thing you won't be able to do is make a call though as three (via t mobile) have the worst coverage on all the networks and awful customer care....

Three have the best 3G network of all providers, given it's the only network built for 3G from the ground up. I thought they piggy backed on the O2 network for when there was no 3G reception, they used to anyway...

Agree the Customer 'Care' is appalling however...

iphone

5/6 of its name is PHONE

will i be able to make calls? hmm???!?!?!?!?

Very overpriced just like all Apple products. Better off buying a good phone like a Desire or Galaxy.

Well that shouldn't matter...the iPhone 4 isn't really up to making calls anyway (_;)
#14
Been with '3' for a number of years now. Can't say I've had any signal issues with making calls be these 3G, EDGE or 2G based. (hardware issues are another issue - can I say 'N97').
#15
3 uses orange for there 2g network coverage !!!!

Obviously it depends to an extent where you are; across all the networks big cities and towns should all have a decent 3G signal, while those in rural areas can struggle.

All the networks have coverage checkers on their sites, but these tend towards optimism. Ofcom's research into 3G at the beginning of 2009 still constitutes the most up-to-date objective info we have on coverage - view its network-by-network maps PDF. http://licensing.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/spectrum/mobile-wireless-broadband/cellular/coverage_maps.pdf

Its conclusion put the networks in the following order overall based on outdoor coverage, though its likely Orange now has top spot:

1st: Three Mobile
2nd: Orange
3rd: T-Mobile
4th: Vodafone
5th: O2

I thought their 3g coverage was excellent, but honestly, their customer service was really appalling.
#19
So.
Overall cost of contract including iphone = £99 + (£30x24)
= £99 + £720
= £819

Compare this with buying the iphone upfront and then using the £15 per month sim only deal, also from 3.
= £550 cost of unlocked iphone (from apple)
+ £15 per month (for same duration as OP deal, 24 months) = 360
= £910

OK, so it works out costing £80 more, over 2 years. However, I would prefer to go this route since I would then be held to ransom by a high-price monthly contract for 2 years. Plus I would be free to switch to other networks, or sell the overpriced toy if I should lose my job!
#20
Well said! I was just about to say the same thing.
Check the Ofcom Report for 3g coverage and you will see Orange and Three come out on top and embarassing figures for O2 and Vodafone.
I had my iPhone 4 upgrade delivered this week and the phone was defective! I spent approximately 5 hours over 2 days trying to sort it out with Three customer service and 80% of the time was spent on hold (i am now officially sick of Michael Buble and Pixie Lott). I decided that i wanted out so i asked for my PAC code and moved to a different iPhone 4 deal with a different network provider. Yes i am paying more with my current deal but i finally came to the end of my tether with Three.

Not sure where you get this from as the 16GB is £499 and the 32GB is £599 from Apple. Given your 3 example is with the 16GB (£99 upfront), then the overall difference is £30 squid...

You've never used an iPhone then. I have an Android phone and an iPhone and the Android doesn't come near. The Android Market is dreadful and with the latest scandal over unchecked apps I would be very careful.

really want an iphone but still seem a bit exspensive at mo anyway gotta wait until next year when my contract is finished. unless a make the oh have my contract.

I have used an iPhone, got bored of it after about 5 minutes, and it's nowhere near Android quality.
Andriod market isn't dreadful, what about all the cool widgets it has?

Their coverage is much better now, perfect where I live.
Although their customer care is still shocking.

The Android market is dreadful, more spam than the App Store...it's just Soundboards and MP3 downloaders. It doesn't even show local currency.
Although I agree with you on the widgets, they are great.

I owned a HTC Desire, sold it, as I missed the quality applications, and a stable OS on the iPhone.

I really want to update my 3g to a 4 but until they sort out the issues with signal, without a bumper im left waiting..
#31
I've been with 3 for a good 5-6 years now (min) and I travel around the country with work and NEVER had any network issues where ever I go! Infact I went camping to Edale in Derbyshire in april on a boys lash up weekend, and ALL other mobile providers up there was zero reception, but 3 was full bars!

so top tip, buy the Iphone4 and goto Derbyshire!

Personally this is alot of money for a phone/call tarrif, thats why I bought one of the re-furbished HTC hero's off the 3 website 2 weeks ago, and very happy with it!

android is great look at all the custom roms you can get, cant do that with the Iphone. Although i do admit Apple does at the moement have a better appstore. I wont be long before it catches up there are some great FREE apps with android.

So you say the Android market is dreadful and have loads of risks. Yet you then post a link that shows that the iPhone apps pose more of a risk than Android apps.

Wow epic fail dude.

Just my two pennies worth regarding three. I have been with them for nearly 18 months and whenever i have a problem customer service has been very good. Yes i speak to someone from India but they have spoken good English when i call and have had no problems with them.

The network coverage is also excellent and i was very worried when i took out the contract as i had heard bad things. They piggy back orange which is soon to be orange/tmobile so no problems with making or receiving calls.

They also are the cheapest around. I have just upgraded to the Desire. I got an 18 month contract at £24 a month. I got 300 cross network mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data (2GB), unlimited landline calls and unlimited 3 to 3 calls. This is an excellent deal and not something i could get close to with other operators. To have the phone on a 18 month plan is unusual as i had the phone free too!

I might as well add my tuppence worth too in agreement with MercuryStar999. I have been with O2 and Vodafone previously, and can say that my experience with 3 especiallyon the customer service front has been excellent, far surpassing the other networks. I have found their customer service agents to be both knowledgeable and helpful in the extreme! One such chap was on the phone with me for an hour & 15 mins sorting out an issue and could not have done more. There seem to be a lot of detractors of 3, but I would like to think that there are also a lot of folk out there that have had good experiences lke myself. Oh, and I would also like to add that as far as coverage goes, that too is far superior to that from my previous networks.
