I won't be giving them £99 of my money. Rather save for the full price.

Seems fishy.
#9

Thank you Robo but I'm well aware what an iPhone is. I should have been more specific. What is this Groupola thing?

Read website:
http://www.groupola.com/static/page/howitworks

It's a bit similar to MyCityDeal, now called groupon (may be the same company?):

READ this wiki article about MyCityDeal - it's very similar:

No, they dont have to actually be your friends signing up!
They manage to get cheaper deals for things by buying in bulk. As an example they would perhaps negotiate a deal to buy a large amount of tickets for a certain event, then they need people to sign up to say they would purchase those tickets, but they will only go through with the deal if they get the amount of people prepared to buy that they negotiated for! I hope that makes some sought of sense!

Im pretty sure that if they have managed to get these for £99 then they wont have a shortage of people signing up!
I will certainly be trying for one but pretty sure they wont have many!

Thank you for your post fletch. My understanding is growing thanks to you guys. I'd like to explore that final point you make though. If they've bought iPhones (in whatever flavour ie 3g, 3gs, 4), for £99 why wouldn't they buy thousands at that price?

I totally understand your point and I think you are spot on! Its pretty safe to say they have not been able to negotiate a deal whereby they can offer a significant amount of iPhones for £99!

Im pretty certain this is no more than a publicity stunt! They get lots more people signing up to the daily alerts and hopefully going on to become customers and in exchange they give some lucky people the chance to buy an iPhone for £99!

Therefore im treating this more like a competition! If im lucky I get the chance to get a new iPhone for over £500 less than it should be and if im not then I just unsubscribe from the daily alerts after the 2nd of July!

Anyone else noticed that of the 28 deals posted for Groupola, 25 have been posted by mods, and only five have made it into triple digits of heat?

Not mine, nope. Referral links are not allowed on HotUKDeals.

Seems people are voting this deal cold out of scepticism rather than it actually being cold, which is a shame... Other deals are posted with low stock - I'm sure someone will get something out of this.

Hi there.

Just to clarify: I am a moderator here on HotUKDeals. The "referral link" you talk of is actually one of HotUKDeals' standard commission links, which helps to fund the running of this massive website. These are inserted into deals for many retailers, at no extra cost to HUKD's users.

Read the "how hotukdeals is funded" section of this page:

So, as I said, this isn't a referral link...

Lol, so funny how many people don't "get" this - they must think HUKD is a registered charity!
