This deal may not be hot, as finding hot deals for iphone 7 plus is akin to looking for love on beach when the tide comes in and you're stuck onshore while your gf is stuck on an island...but it is at least a 12 month deal.

Alternatively, given that the average pint of beer in the uk is £3.10, you could buy yourself and your friends 440 pints down the pub...

Just putting this out there. Do with it what you will

After that do Apple let you move onto another beach to do the same?

The rate this is going the iPhone 8 will be the same price as a small island

So you're pretty much paying most of the phone upfront!

Why would anyone pay this out on a mobile phone?

Complete and utter rip off, even by apple standards. Then again you dont often hear the word apple and value for money in the same sentence, except perhaps the fruit kind. ;)

Very wrong. The dual camera allows Depth of Field photography in real time (this will come in a software update in a few months). not even DSLR's do that. And it has an optical zoom, first smartphone ever to have this feature. This was just 2 of many new features.

Still I think it's over priced for a phone with an amazing camera.

That's a lot of money for an iPhone 6 with the headphone jack removed...

P9 does depth of field. Optical zoom has been done, but not as neatly. Either the phone is really thick or you need to attach a mod. Apple makes good phones, but this is asking a lot from consumers. Regardless if this is the most complete package available.

Very much doubt the zoom is really optical. It probably just uses different pixels of the sensor like the Nokia 808 pureview. Its a clever trick that is still better than digital zoom.

It has a different fixed optical assembly to the left-hand camera so is twice as zoomed in.

It's not exactly show stopping optical zoom range... It's 2x zoom. Most modern smartphone with decently sized sensors will be able to zoom 2x without much affect on quality.

This is a terrible deal as you might as well just get the phone on 0% finance through Apple and buy a SIM only plan.

Yes, the iPhone is expensive but it doesn't preclude a good deal being found at some point.

Typically this thread turns into a snarky slanging match for people to whinge about Apple and its users.

Well done, you're better, you're more sensible, you bought two Androids for the same price...yaddayadda.

Fine, then don't buy this and get a different phone with an equally good zoom range without much difference in quality. And thank the stars for free choice.

Erm, I think DSLRs do allow "depth of field" photography. Wide aperture springs to mind if all you want to do is blur the background.

I don't own an iPhone, have nothing against them, but this price is crazy.

It's computational bokeh made using the calculations on depth gleaned from the two cameras. Huawei and HTC have done something similar before but Apple tend to do an excellent job at this sort of thing - slow motion and panoramas are still better on iOS than any other Android phone- so I expect the effect to be quite impressive. Not saying it makes the phone worth the money, and it is expensive but I guess if no-one buys the phone at that price then they will have made a mistake. If people *do* pay it then obviously it's just a business being a good business and getting people to pay as much as they can.

The cost of this contract is how much Apple will pay in tax.... sorry not for me. Maybe someone else can take it if they have that sort of money....
#33
I don't have a problem with that price. it's £26 a week , or somewhere in that region. people spend more than that on cigarettes or going to football matches.
#34
Spend £1336 and end up without jack. (_;)

I'm waiting to see a close up of the phone....in a few weeks on Benefits Britain

I'm not sure I'd call that zoom as it's just using a different camera. The Nokia solution is much better as it allows more than 2x optical zoom as long as you are shooting at a lower resolution. If only Nokia had put this camera on an Android phone.
