Good stuff, better that the £20 odd that apple want :)

Be interesting if this works with an iPod Touch 3rd gen.
The fitting is the same but I've seen a number of these that apparently they are only compatible with 1st and 2nd gen.

If anyone has one of these I'd be interested to know if it does work with an ipod touch 3rd gen.
Thanks in advance:thumbsup:

it states it is iphone compatible so should be fine with a 3rg gen touch as the two use the same hardware base

Does it work with the iPhone 3GS though? The new ones have some kind of detection circuit that only allows charging from (official apple?) selected sources.

Secondly, does anyone know how long the lead is please?

Does it work for I-POD TOUCH????

Does it work for I-POD TOUCH????

From the reviews:

"i to received a black one when i thought i was gonna get a white one ,but it does do what its supposed to and charge my 1st gen i touch"

"The charger works fine for my Ipod Touch 2 gen, dont know if it would work for the first gen touch. Small and compact; money well spent."

Was about to order 2 of N73GB from Maplin (USB travel charger) at £9.99 each. However, two of these for £6 is a great deal in comparison. OP - H+R for saving me £4

not sure, it requires higher voltage than the iphone - it doesnt state it does so and doesnt have any tech details so cant confirm - i wouldnt chance it, but the choice is yours

Apple just removed the ability to charge via the old Firewire wires; from 3G iPhone onwards - unfortunatly many iPod docs/ chargers were still using this instead of switching to the USB wires..

I would be interested too if anyone can confirm working with 3G.

Found this as an alternative with description stating it WILL work with the newer ipod touch 3g

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-Mains-Charger-Cable-White/dp/B002G22PIA/ref=pd_cp_ce_3

The reason some 3rd party accessories including speaker bases do not work is because of a change Apple made to the pins and also they have stopped the ability to charge through firewire - its usb only even if the charger s plugged into the mains if it is a firewire lead from the charger - it wont work

Well if thats right my detection software isnt working because it charges up from three unofficial Apple charge devices I have got !

Its £2.99 ! Buy it and find out!!

Can anyone confirm 3g/3gs compatibility. Left mine on holiday in a cottage and the owners couldn't find it. Have to charge with older ipod lead through the computer at the moment - a bit of a pain.

I don't think malibu777 is worried about the £2.99 - like myself he's worried about potential damage to the £150+ ipod touch 8gb and the £300+/- to his dad's 32gb ipod touch.

Last thing you want is to plug a £2.99 adaptor to your new expensive pride & joy and discover it doesn't work .... oh and by the way neither does your ipod !

Just ordered 3, thanks for the heads up.

There seems to be conflicting reports on whether this works with the Nano 4G or not. Also a few people saying what they were sent didn't match the item in the picture.

why does everyone say "i brought one" instead of "bought one", is it a running joke on HUKD ?

ipod nano 4th geb
ipod nano 5th gen
ipod touch 2nd gen
ipod touch 3rd gen
iphone 3g
iphone 3gs

The above all charge via usb pins only - unlike other/older ipods which can charge via usb or firewire pins. The item description doesn't mention any of them so i would have said it wouldn't be compatible (although 1 reviewer said they used it OK with their 2nd gen touch so might be OK???)
You'd be better with the one linked in post 19 which specifically states it is compatible with all 3gs/nano/touch.

bought this for a fiver just before xmas for the BF I phone, bargain :)
#35
Got one for my Dads Ipod touch, superb!
#36
Got something similar on ebay for ipod touch. Works well and you can even use it with a travel adaptor in the USA to charge.

I think its because they like bruying stuff instead of buying stuff!

Couldn't you just buy a Mains USB adapter for less and use the original USB charge cable with it ? :?

Means if your travelling you won't need a dedicated adapter....

If you go the mains usb adapter route then you must be prepared for incompatibility in some cases. There are reviews on Play of various products of this type that don't work with all devices.
