As much as i do love secrets of mana i'm still waiting for final fantasy tactics to get released. I'm just downloading Chaos Rings now. I've been looking at it all year but £8 is a lot for an iphone game i think. £3.50 is a lot better.

Secret of Mana has to be one of the top 5 games of all time! The original on the SNES back in the day was just mind blowing!
#8
Secret of Mana is great, but It'd have to be half that price for me to buy it. Not interested in the others.
#9
Oh man, I was hoping for the original SNES cartridge of Secret of Mana all boxed up :(

Ditto - Secret of Mana - what a game. I can't remember much about it other than it was engrossing in a way only zelda could better. Did they not have a series of seasons as a puzzle?

Secret of Mana is also one of my favorite games of all time, I recently bought myself a boxed and complete copy (though it is not in as good a condition as I hoped when I bought it). I'd still recommend playing it on a big screen with some good speakers though, you don't get half the experience without the phenomenal music and good controls.
The iPhone/iPod Touch speakers and touch-screen controls always reduce the fun of the game, regardless of how good the game itself is.

Yep they did, you had to go around the screens in a certain order for a path to a village to show up.

Square America ripped the game engine for a non related game called Secret Of Evermore which I loved but had mixed reviews.

There was a "Secret Of Mana 2" but was only released in Japan though was fan translated, you could choose something like 3 out of 9 characters which affected the storyline, its part of a series of games in Japan called Seiken Densetsu, of which Mystic Quest on Game Boy was the first in series, dealing with Mana trees and reincarnation etc.

Any of these HD / universal?

So if I had £3-4 quid to try one of these, should I go for FF1, FF2 or Chaos Rings?

Any thoughts gratefully received :)

ff1 and ff2 are classics and are straight ports from psp remakes. Chaos Rings is my choice just because of the huge price drop.
I'm on an iphone 3gs and i get a little lag but apart from that its pretty decent.
Of course if your in a nostalgic 'lets get garland' kind of mood it's got to be ff1.

Wow Secret of Mana what an incredible game, the only thing that ever came close to the Legend of Zelda series (Ocarina of Time = my all time favourite game). Would be great to have a portable copy for a play through on my daily commute! Thanks OP.

Just got Chaos Rings. Last JRPG I played was Tales of Vesperia, I thought it was really good but i didn't have the patience to sit at my xbox and play it.
