This will be the older version - the latest ipod Classic only comes in one size - 120GB.

Good deal. :)

true but this isnt that much more than the refurb one on apple website
#4
Not bad, considering the RRP for the new 120GB is £175.00
#5
Good price, but it should be noted that the latest ipod classic comes with Genius 'intelligent playlists', whereas these previous gen ipods don't. I think there are some other differences with the new classic - slimmer and with better screen light and battery etc - which swung it for me.

Good price though - heat added.
#6
Yes these models are discontinued but i went for the refurb model the other day. Good deal though. Heat from me
#7
Which store was that? Called some local stores but they had none and have never seen any.
#8
According to apple, the latest 120g clasic has less battery life than the 160g "older" classic and as far as I know you can update the firmware through itunes to give all the cover flow gubbins that the newer classic comes with out of the box

I'm pretty sure that the sixth generation iPod Classic (which is the current one) was initially offered in 80 or 160gb versions as seen here , then they phased them out in favour of the 120gb one.

Physically it will be the same and I think they are software upgradable to be functionally identical. EIther way this is an excellent price if you need a lot of storage.

Thats a bit harsh, most of what he said is right. 80 and 160 gigs have been phased out. The 160 Gb is thicker than than the 80 Gb. However the 120 Gb is the the same physical size as the old 80Gb just with a bigger hard drive.

Yes, It is highly preferable to have people spouting utter tosh as fact. Why bother pointing mistakes out at all?

In other news, the moon is made of cheese.

He was just plain wrong. The ONLY 6G ipod Classic is 120gb, and you CANNOT update the sofware legally.

Therefore his post was utter tripe.

Looks like it's not nationwide as not in the Coventry stores

The Ipod Classic 120Gb is 6.5G, the 80Gb and 160Gb are 6G so not sure if thats a typo. I'm not sure about the software point but i think the old models will all recieve the newer software update when you connect it to your pc and that includes the Genius feature

The only difference is the the size and the 120Gb has new earbud remote features and a slightly longer battery life

the 6G (classic) was introduced in 80/160GB, the 120GB replaced both in Sep 2008 (one year after introduction), that part was true
#21
I have the 160gb and it supports the genius play list, which I don't use anyway as I think it's crap.

Yes but the 120Gb is refered to as a 6.5G although not official
#23
are these the 5th gen ones that can be flashed to ipodlinux or w/e? or older 6th gen ones?
#24
Well i've called around 10 stores near me and none are even aware of it, so looks like a one off to me, would have been hot hot hot but cold for me and many others!!
#25
Good price even though these are now discontinued.
#26
Went to 2 Morrisons and both just had the latest ipods not the older ones on offer, I also checked with the entertainment desk manager and he was not aware of any offers for the ipods, either latest models or previous models :(
Cold for me.

It can be upgraded to having the Genius playlists on there, so, yeah, shaddup.

I have a Classic 160GB with the latest official firmware but see no sign of the Genius Playlist option on my iPod. Do you have to enable it via iTunes or where is it hiding?
#29
Has anyone managed to pick one of these up in another store?

thats something people are willing to pay for - therefore to state there is no difference is wrong

Thanks for that.
Nice to see there's someone with half a brain here.
If there was anything wrong with what I wrote then by all means correct it , but just saying "that's wrong" is of no use to anyone :)

Plunder exploits the differences between viewpoints to gain anchor. The greater the separation, the more the plunder/empowerment. Like fashion, oka religion. Privilege means that which you cannot attain but which I have – and I don’t mind paying more for it – be the payment physical/material, emotional/worship or intellectual/saviourship. Apple plays this game to the hilt because addiction always does. The extent of worship, oka addiction, is such that the iPod “wheel” can be likened to the second coming – it is a stupid and cumbersome idea – OK if you spend all your life hip-hop zipping through everything. Culitvating certain habits until the sense of discrimination is heightened and you’ll then demand worship from others for that.

Human beings are stupid and dumb because they have lost their sense of valuation of the living, preferring to value the non-living instead. Offering the non-living homage is also called worship and the religious blinded faithfuls are one very good example. Ever met one who had met his/her god? Really? Perhaps his name is some S. Jobs? The height of intellect is stupidity/idiocy and the summit of emotion is dumbness/lunacy. Without a single exception within the realms of human relativity.

Good find for an iPod and there is no humanly living difference between the “old” and the “new” iPod Classics. When fashion sets the price bar, all the tag-alongs will join in the screwing. That’s the damage the iPod had done. The living always establishes balance whereas the non-living works to sustain accumulation and as all know, throughout is at the minimum when there is little balance.
